@Novica - I like your mermaid pics. I picked up Naida & Nalin and Merfolk yesterday in the 75% grab but haven't rendered them yet.

Love to see them when you do :)
Kharma- I feel your pain. I think we got a discount but I certainly didn't get 75% off, lol!

Headed out to the barn to put Stetson under a fan. Going to be 113 degree heat index within the next hour. I found out last week that he likes to play with the hose when you rinse him off- I love when horses like to play like that. He took the hose out of my hand and tipped his head up and down, slinging the water all over me. Like, "Right back at you!" What a nutball. Anyway, headed out.

Wow, it's July 1st. We get two MORE coupons to use. I like this PC+ thing. And if you haven't joined it, it's probably just like the June folks- use your current PC code before you switch over, and you'd get two MORE codes to use. (Admin, correct me if that's not right.)

Although I don't like buy this for x percent off, two for x percent, etc- if it's stuff you want the prices lower pretty well with the participating stores. Thanks again to the vendors participating- we've got almost all the really good ones!

OT, but thought I'd share. I got to the barn and every horse was already in their stall, with a box fan in a fan holder, and each one hadANOTHER fan blowing on them from across the hall. (Those stalls are used for storage so no horses in them) They sat the fans on the stall ledges. So love this place- they really take care of the horses. Every severe thunderstorm, I know my horse is brought in with staff there to watch them.

Anyone up for some fun for the 4th of July week/weekend?

It's a "Two Or More Scene Kitbash" showcase. Anyone can participate, there's no prizes, just fun. Here's the challenge-

    1. Combine two or more sets, using major portions of each. Try to put things together that DO NOT GO TOGETHER.

    2. It needs to be summer related.

    3. It can NOT BE POSTED HERE BEFORE FRIDAY JULY 4TH. It will go all weekend.

    4. Please do our normal thing- put the product name/vendor at the top, put a link. Thanks!

    That's it!
Have fun, you can go whacky but not that's not required. Something outdoor can go indoor, indoor can go outdoor, high goes low, low goes high, whatever!

To start off, I'll tell you what you'll see from me- Yesterday's Fast Grab-

    Indoor Pool

This is making me laugh-not as good as Wine Walk Limbo, but these two things look pretty good together. I should be an architect!

EDIT: I'm going to add the product list here as I add to the scene.

I wanted to share this link that I added to the Reference section. I have a cockatiel in the summer scene I'm doing for this weekend, and of course, it loads highly distorted. As does the macaw. This tells you what the problem is and it's an easy fix :) I KNEW it had been addressed before. (And again, it's in the reference section under "Cockatiel and Macaw."

It has been far to long since my last post anywhere, lol. And I must be off shortly to attend to other matters.

In the meantime, here is Cassia with and without the Olympia6 shape slider (engaged). She is wearing that "Evaleene Outfit for G2F". The purple is close to another outfit that just could not get to work (Dark Funky Crush and Jan19's Funky Touch), a nice included color preset. I couldn't help but notice how the metal buckles on the top, bend and flex to flexing of the torso, I have mixed feelings about that.

"O" the top can be removed using an "Opacity Map", so the skirt can be mixed with other tops. I have yet to try that with a tiled texture on the skirt, as time has not allowed (I suspect the surface thing "Tiler Shader for DAZ Studio" will be needed for that).

Nidale, and Prehistoric Princess for G2F

I purchased the Olympia Pro Set, and the images of the "Prehistoric Princess" had me assuming that there was a 'Green' texture preset. I'm not heartbroken by that, however with all the Elf/Fairy stuff going around, Some may be disgruntled by the one and only color preset.

I have to say, Nidale is kind of 'Cute'.

Underwear And Sports-bra (black) from somewhere (I think included with Daz Studio 4.6)
    Barefoot Dancer Pose.

I'm still figuring out the lights, so one is still to dark, and the GC-on is way off for some reason.
    (Edit 12Sep2014)
I just now found that green texture set for the outfit.

oh, "FWSA Serena HD" is out, there is a must have. I cant Thank FWArt And Sabby for including a list of what was used in the preview pics.

Tho there is a nagging curiosity about one item, the one-piece swimsuit. Is that "Ocean Swimsuit"
    http://www.daz3d.com/ocean-swimsuit
with the belt and loops invisible (opacity 0%), or a different G2F suit?

I don't think so- Ocean Swimsuit doesn't have a separate material zone for the top part? (The part that's more see-through in their render.) It does have the remove belt option.

When I showcased Nidale, I used UE2 lights and that seemed to soften up the skin tone. You can always work with the diffuse (and specular/ambient) in Surfaces to see if you can lighten her up that way.

O, that sounds different. I flat out replace the Defuse Chanel with a picked color, and the top and bottom become one plane color, at-least I vaguely remember doing that somewhere.

Thanks for the hint with the UE2, been discussed allot this month, lol.
Theo's are with a single Uber rectangle-panel-light stretched across the wall at the ceiling at about 300% intensity (the room is 40ft across, a really wide light, lol), and a matching one down on the floor against the same wall, behind the camera. Then I put a few DzSpotlights around as necessary for shadows and glean-edge-effect.
    (edit)
I needed to up the panels to 500% intensity. There that big, and that far away (AKA out of my way).

Ignorant to lingo question. By "Soften" are you referring to how light or dark the skin is, or by how smooth the skin surface looks?
    (edit)
I just looked at that image again, it is definitely not Ocean Swim. it has a defined seam at the top before the mesh part, I didn't look that close at it the first time. I was preoccupied with clicking the Add to cart stuff, lol.
The other render is Nidale, with more Lumens. Packed away the carbon ark lamps, and brought out the Saturn-V, lol.

Now try adding a distant light from slightly above/front, at about 15%, play with it, and see if you like it :) Coming along nicely. By soften I mean the lighting, not the textures. Like in a glow.

I'm rendering my 4th of July weekend scene, it's been 3 hours and only 18% done but it's a closeup of the figure, not the set, and 2000 x 2000. I used my nose morphs in combination with the basics.

I'm going back to bed for 8 hours, we are buying a vehicle this morning and my husband was driving them back and forth from the dealership and I was sleeping in-between runs, lol. Settled on a color that is liquid black gold, which is cool. It is black but turns kinda olive green in the sunlight- way cool. I needed a truck so I can haul hay, tow a horse trailer, etc. A V6 so 25 mpg instead of 18 with a V8 (and 13 city. No way!) My other car had almost 110,000 miles and still purring along but wasn't practical for my lifestyle.

I will try that with the light, also there is no light back in the corner her left hand is pointing in. It was next on my list, the sides of the ceiling, and doing it without sucking hours of render-time for Progressive-scan renders, lol.

I miss my 1988 V6 SUV, the thing would go anywhere. This Jeep Liberty (also supposedly a V6) just cant get out of it's own way, and it has air-bags everywhere. I'm afraid to brush up against a tree in the woods, or hit a pot-hole. I envision the Jeep turning itself into a Cannoli, lol.

The absolutely funny thing is, the 2002 V6 gets just as good gas mileage, the old S10 Blazer did throwout it's entire operating-life (I kept really good care of it).

    Summer Render stuff.
Sorry to get on a tangent there with the former posts, I figured it was something worth sharing, especially the lack of a Green Texture-preset for "Prehistoric Princess" outfit.

I picked up Leilani last night, thinking of doing a Hawaiian smashup dance thing, tho I don't have own of them straw skirt things, lol.
    http://www.daz3d.com/ej-leilani
There is an Epic problem with her skin tone if she is supposed to look anything like the preview pics. She is pail, paler then the underside of my forearms at the wrist.

Nymph deity of the Pacific, It's more like Albino-white goth-tone with a heavy red tint. I need to find out what the problem is, and get it fixed.
The attached render was after I deleted the front fill spot-light, and dropped ALL the others to under 25% luminosity (Including the Uber Panels).

OUTPOST 17 for Planet Lava and Enchanted Forest By Dreamlight
    http://www.daz3d.com/outpost-17-for-planet-lava-and-enchanted-forest

    Required Products:

    Planet Lava (Stonemason)
    http://www.daz3d.com/planet-lava

    Current price: 12.00!

Okay, I thought I might showcase a couple of products I've purchased during the current sale in case anyone was interested in seeing them. I also like to test stuff after I buy it to make sure I like it.

In the case of Outpost 17, this is a keeper. This is an enchanting woodland mix of Planet Lava and Enchanted Forest. Dreamlight does an excellent job of combining the two to make a cool and serene Sci-Fi woodland experience. I know I'm going to enjoy adding some sci-fi characters to this elaborate scene.

Lights are pretty dim, but if you are a nocturnal woodland dweller, no problem.

Here are some renders right out of the box with one of the lower quality settings. The set includes 4 quality settings, so you can maximize on your realism and processing power if you have it, to get some high res and quality renders.

For the purpose of this review, I am not going to do a max render... At least until I get a scene set up that I like, but you can get the idea.

The set also includes a rainless scene if you want to postwork that in later.

Set includes an atmospheric camera so you can get the angle you need with the right haze you want where you want it.

Maybe if I get the time, it would be interesting to redo the scene with a more sunny atmosphere. HEH.

As you can see, the set is really nice. Dreamlight did an excellent job of combining these two sets to make a realistic and atmospheric scene suitable for any sci-fi adventure.

I'm glad you did that- I remember seeing that and thinking it was a cool combination. :)
I'm trying to find my notes so I can post my kitbashing sets. Back in a bit.
(We did end up getting the black liquid gold- it's a Ram 1500 truck (truck of the year last year and this year, back to back wins.) So smooth with 6 cylinders but 8 speeds. Now I'm a real cowgirl, lol. (But once you buy a truck, you don't have the money for the horse trailer. Fortunately I don't need one right now. (PS- It is NOT a Dodge Ram, according to the dealer. The Ram truck division got bought from Dodge so Ram is it's own entity. I didn't know that. That's why it's ramtrucks(dot com) )

Thanks for sharing Leilani btw. She has very nice features. I don't have her yet- I've decided I've got too many figures that I haven't used yet and am now on a really tight budget with the truck payment. Playtime's over lol. So it really helps when you folks post the latest stuff and even older things because there's so many products.

    http://www.daz3d.com/end-of-summer-hair-for-genesis-and-genesis-2-female-s

I started out with Yanmei as the base, used Taylor skin materials, and added Maggie eyes. I did not put Yanmei on Stephanie 6 though, just used Genesis 2 Female. Then I used six of my custom nose morphs made with d-formers and used two regular morphs such as nose height, nostril widen. I really changed up the teeth and like that they are not square and straight across.

I totally Polygon Editor Tooled the interior of Classic Deco and wanted to mention to you folks who have not done Polygon Group Editor before, this is the one to practice on. Switch over to Wire Texture Shaded and you'll see those wall bands by the windows are huge squares that you can easily select and make a group. The room was completely white and I changed it over to green.

Next, wanted to mention the wall planters from Secret Garden Shaded Haven do very nicely when you insert rectangular planters into them. They need to be fine tuned but I am just showing you the ideas and not doing a perfected render.

Remember when using the Cockatiels or the Macaw, to go to Tail 1 and put it on 0. That will take off the distortion immediately that occurs when it loads. It's never been fixed.

The Classic Deco and Indoor Pool go great together, I didn't finish the scene so it would render faster- but you can either put a garden wall behind the building or vegetation and it would be a great outdoor scene. Taking the indoors outdoors :) These are NOT the lights that come with the pool, I concentrated on the interior of the room. The water will look different with the included lights.

I also used Polygon Group Editor on the furniture and made the "T"s green- the furniture was all white. I used Polygon Group Editor and took the hook off the hanging birdhouse, so it has a regular dome top. If you don't Polygon Group Editor, you might be missing out of a lot of opportunities. Try to view products with and without their parts- don't pass up something because it has a hook- just polygon edit it OUT.

First image: The character was tested with more blue UE2, I didn't like the chalky outline and too much blue, so tweaked after that. This was the first test render. (All are large, you can click to enlarge.) There is a distant light coming in through the back windows on 15%.

2nd image: A bit more red and less blue. Changing teeth a bit. These renders all took about 2 hours to 3 hours each. Those are 100% my nose morphs (on top of Yanmei's shape.) I can rotate the bulb of the nose and put in slightly different "crooks" into the nose.

3rd image: Widened the nostrils a bit, changed the teeth. May have tweaked the lights. I had also been reducing the iris size, I didn't want a fairy with huge eyes. Final character, I like her. Click to enlarge and click again, will really see the skin materials and eyes. The eyes belong to Maggie.

4th image: the building by the pool, with the planters from secret Garden Shaded Haven. I put a bright spotlight to test and see lighting differences, I would go with something in-between what the room currently has and the bright intensity spotlight.

And the closeup of the furniture.

Then the planter with the planters and plants embedded. (I added a quickie leaf as some of the strands have floating leaves with no stems attached, and some stems came out of nowhere (were twisted into the inside of the planter) so needed leaves. Not the best postwork, but you get the idea.

it's all good, even when your tight on funds because of an Engine replacement as I am. My wishlist is larger then what I have to play with per month. I still have to dish out funds to get the ABS sensors in the front fixed, Automotive-voodoo territory.

I think we were mistaking about the proper skin tone for Nidale, as the Smart-tab icon is much darker then the add pics. Set next to Aiko6 to keep me from bringing out the Saturn-V and Carbon ark lamps, she is dark-skinned (light African, like northern Nubia?). Also, the way Leilani's description was worded, I was thinking Hawaii, not somewhere else (Laos?).

I have a summer bash rendering now, that I wanted to do yesterday for the "Showgirls" sail. even tho nothing in the sail is in it. That stuff is in the pipe (one figure, and an outfit set).
    (edit)
"O", That would be two figures, and an outfit set. Jasmina, and Serena HD.

I kind of understand that "to much stuff, and forgetting what you have" bit. I had to make an "Identification_chart" of sorts for all the V4 figures from last month. Because almost none of them have a "Load from scratch" thing, I have yet to figure out what is what with most of them. Admittedly, the drudge work is more then I care for most of the time, G1 and G2 is so much easier when there is a Load-from-scratch thing.

I'll also need to do that with hair styles as well, as I keep running into the "Didn't I have that somewhere" routine, only to find-out that it is for another generation and wont auto-fit correctly without a ton of hassle (if at all).

name blocks maid in MsPaint and put on Primitives cubes, with XYZ scaling.

    Notes;
Aside from the one skin-tone issue, I am very pleased with everything here. Everything came with at-least just enough controls to add that hint of motion, and to get the cloth out of the figures. And the three figures did have a load-from-scratch duf, so I didn't have to hunt down a handful of partial presets and hope they were the correct ones to supposedly load the figure in the promo pics for the figure.

The Janna Hair pack, did not come with that yellow-orange mixed hair color in the promo pics. I think that was done by mixing two of the color presets (somehow), and a trick of the lights. That or it is in a add-on pack somewhere.

Nice comparison! You might also have some fun going into Actor>Head and mixing in some of the other "exotic" or ethnic faces to see what they do. We discussed it about 6 months ago (on a previous thread) and if you're not aware of it, turning the Parameters off and doing negative numbers on the sliders also gives you some nice noses, mouths, faces, etc. :)

I kind of understand that "to much stuff, and forgetting what you have" bit. I had to make an "Identification_chart" of sorts for all the V4 figures from last month.

That looks really handy :) What I normally do is go to V4 in Shop>People and just look at the page and see what I like, then see if I have it. I'm lazy! So far as hair goes, I've been pleasantly surprised at the fit from Genesis to the Genesis 2 on some of the hair.

    The New: http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/cirque-collection-for-genesis-2-female-s

Cirque Collection poses for Gen 2 females is really kind of cool.

It includes two nice props- a bodysuit and the ring.

The bodysuit looks kind of cool on men, even if it has a cleavage window!

    OT:
If you didn't see this, get a bird's eye view of a drone flying into the fireworks. They'll come right at you! I love the way you start from far away and then get right in the middle of the action. You'll want to duck a couple times!

I noticed that Bluebird3D's new ballroom goes really well with their Quiet Nook. Could perhaps use sections of the walls for extending the nook.

I tried to do a line dance yesterday day between thunderstorms, and ran into some "Technical Difficulties" with one of the figures, "O" well.
"For Genesis 2 Female(s)" no longer implies that the figure is Actually created for G2F, especially if it is also for "Victoria 4". I'm not convinced by the V4 base, when it comes to movement and compatibility with G2F morphs. Thighs don't flex that much when walking.
I will assume that Artemis3d is aware of the V4 issue, and is working the problem. "Teething Pains", I don't have nor want "The Girl 4", lol.

Yes, I'm super lazy as well. I just went threw my Product Library, and saved the cover-pics into an empty folder. The only work is adding that 'G#F_Base#' in front of the name, so it gets organized into generation, and Base figure (V6, A6, etc), by the file manager... Then I just view the folder in Thumbnail view, and do a screen-cap.

Yes that ballroom caught my eye (If I had the spare funds, lol), it's in the wishlist for next month along with a cool looking skirt that seams like it has the correct morphs for dancing poses (not just standing around).

"O" and yes, I use Genesis1 hair styles on G2F all the time with outstanding results (hens the need for the chart), as styles that do work with auto-fit don't appear in the smart tab when G2F is selected. I have yet to have any luck just dropping Gen4 styles in, Except for that "HMHM hair and MGHM hair for V4 / A4" by Red Viper.

Auto-fit (Unsupported), (Hair->Short), and walla. "O" set the opacity to 0% on them buzzing cube-flies, lol.

Yes My list of hair styles is almost as lacking as the collection of dress shews I have, or don't have, lol.

SereneNight, yes that dose look like a cool combo-pack. The pics seamed a tad funny to me, as it looked like they tried to cram a figure over six feet tall into a prop meant for dancers under five-foot-nine. lol.

The suit and ring is a nice addition to the poses.
    (edit)
perhaps the weather will hold out a tad longer as I make breakfast, it just got down to 80F in here. Them red's and yellows look ominous tho. (I'm due-north of Boston, my avatar is in another galaxy, lol.)

Artimus3d, showgirls, stuff from past few days.

Any sash or skirt meant for dancing, Must Have A Center Set Of Handles, And a working set of independent move the sides around handles as well.

Jewell hair again, and I have no clue what V4.2 Pro outfit that is.

"O" and that 1940s style Machine Shop Stool "ZdgStool" again.
    http://www.sharecg.com/v/76494/browse/21/daz-studio/1940s-style-machine-shop-stool-test4.-dazstudio.
That thing keeps cropping up places, lol.

I just purchased 'Carys' and the 'Eveline Outfit' and have not had much chance to try out all the different makeup/color options for them yet. They do appear quite nice in passing, and don't give me to much grief.

Maggie has been around for some time, and like 'Carys' and 'Jasmina', there is NO Smart Tab Icons to "Load the figures From Scratch". Most of, if not all the stuff is buried in the Content Library. Nothing that a quick "Scene Subset" save cant fix, once the various figure parts have been cobbled together from the four corners of the Content Library realm.

The Not-so-dancing Show Girl Dress is for the most part excellent looking, even tho it only came with the two color presets shown (White or Orange). There is the fundamental front-to-back leg movement morphs, and that's about it. Not quite enough control for moving the leg out to the side without lifting up that side of the flaps, as that control morph is not quite adequate for the job. There is NO center handles (like so many skirts) to move the front center of the flap/skirt to a more appropriate position for the pose. In all, Great to look at and basic walking poses, and that is the limit of the "Show Girl Outfit Dress". I simply was not able to get the right leg up far enough without the dress going into the leg.

The Show Girl Outfit Undergarment may be far more useful, as a bikini-bottom of sorts, and obviously needs no movement handles for dancing poses, unlike the Dress. That makes the set worth it, as I didn't have much for G2F undergarments.

"O" in closing, yes, that is a PSY "Gentleman" dance move used here.

Questions about HD were asked/answered in this thread. Good questions! I'll put them in the reference links (found from the first post in this thread.)

The Showgirls items look interesting. I think I have Janna Hair wishlisted. Very nice job with the figure that is kneeling, the skirt looks good. I usually dread doing skirts with kneeling figures, love Miss Fishers Wardrobe items. Do you own any of those? They are amazing.
