Measure Metric Install Error

I am trying to install the Measure Metrics with DIM.

I'm getting this error message:

Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit) Public Build" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.x Public Build (64-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

It is really early in the morning but doesn't the screenshot show that this is defined already? Maybe I need coffee.

Public Build is the beta, what you show is the release version. You should have an installer for that version of MM.

Ah ok. Thanks. I look for it.

Latest DAZ Studio version is 4.6.2.118. The plugin probably won't work with anything lower.

    That's probably the problem...

One thing I've noticed over the years, dealing with Studio and its various plugins, is that while a plugin may WORK on an older version, in theory, it most often won't work on a version of DS older than the one it was built in. It's often due to the various library versions (dlls in Windows) that it needs to run. More often than not, they are not the same versions among the builds of Studio and even if there is no change in the functions/content of those libraries, just the version number change is enough to choke the plugin.

So, what this means, in a practical sense, is that you will need to update Studio to the current version...which is 4.6.2.118, since that's probably the version it was built under...(or whenever the last SDK update was, there was at least one going between 4.6.1.x and 4.6.2.x).

some of the newer plugins require features that are in the current versions of DS so more than likely won't work in older versions.

I am having a similar issue as whispers65. The beta version installed fine in the C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 Public Build, but the general release version gives me a plugin error in C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4. The error states that the plugin is created for a different version, even though I am installing the release version.

In addition, why doesn't the stand alone installer ask for the installation paths? How do you install this plugin in custom installations? Also why won't the plugin work with the last general release of DS 4.6.1.39? The docs state it is compatible with DS 4.5.xx.x. and above.

I am not finding the documentation on this product is not very clear. I.e. in the second video on the product page it shows a figure metrics dialog that one can type the measurements and the figure automatically adjusts to the new measurements, How is this done, and how do we get the figure metrics dialog box? How is it done for V4?

Thanks Jadrail. Yes I have read the documentation. I have no problems with the Measure Metrics dialog. I understand how to load & use use the Gen presets, and I can create new tape measures for other figures such as V4, but it's not clear how to get/create the Figure Metrics dialog box like in the second video. After reading the documentation I still don't get how activate/create the Figure Metrics dialog so we can just edit the lengths and figure adjusts accordingly. Do we have to save the Measure Metrics as a preset or something?

ref. Latest DS version. Yes I have both the current release and the previous general release versions loaded. I was just noting that it should state on the product page this plugin requires DS4.6.2.118 or above instead of DS4.5 or above. Although, if the plug-in was built with the current DS 4.5 SDK it should work with all versions of DS 4.5 or above.

Maybe...but the qt dlls in the most recent install of DS are different versions than the SDK versions. Back in the days of yore (XP and before) that kind of thing was very common with software that bundled it's own versions of dlls....it's almost disappeared now, but it sometimes still does happen. So while on paper, it should work, the reality is that in order to work the 'current' version of the main program is what is needed. Depending on the build environment/software, it should be possible to set the minimum version of the dependent library files...but sometimes, if this isn't done, the 'current' version is assumed to be the minimum, even if an older one IS the real minimum version.

I run a Linux system and run into this problem often enough for it to a bit more than annoying. That's one of the reasons I compile a lot of my software from source code, because many times the ready to run, prebuilt version has library requirements that are 'above' the minimum requirements, because the person who built it happened to update something I haven't. So building it myself means it's built according to what I have installed.

I too can not find the 'Figure Metrics' options... In the read me files it documents that I should find one of the presets located in a 'People > Genesis 2 Female > Measure Metrics' directory. However the installer never created that directory, so its not included in my content folders...

As far as I can see, the only files the plugin installed are:
    /docs/Plugins/MeasureMetrics.dsx
    /docs/Plugins/MeasureMetricsInlineHelp.dsx
    /plugins/dzmeasuremetrics.dll

Could someone please shed some light on this? I installed the x64 version of the plugin and have the most up to date version of DAZ Studio too. (not that this should matter as the installer didn't even create the required files.)

Currently, at least, you have to install with the DAZ Install Manager to get the Figure metrics content.

Thanks Jaderail for pointing the way...

I tried selecting wearable and/or pose preset, but I am not getting the figure metrics dialog by selecting either of those preset files. Is the figure metrics dialog supposed to pop -up on selecting the pose file for the figure? The pose files for Gen just poses Gen figure - no figure dialog.

Here is what happens for me:

    1. Selecting the wearable files populate the measures matrix dialog.
    2. I then have to run the figure metric script under scripts to get the figure metrics dialog
    3. The figure metrics loads, but is not configured, so I cannot adjust any of the measurements (no check boxes present).
    4. I have to go the figure metrics configuration tab and manually load the configuration i.e. Height: Node = Genesis; Property = scale
    5. Go back to the measurements tab, click the check box for height, and adjust the measurement.
    6. Click accept.

I seems to me a lot of steps to go through for supposedly per-configured files. Am I doing something wrong?

Also for figures that do not have presets like V4; do I just create a new measure matrix and save it a a wearable preset?

I don't use the install manager so when will we be able to download this content? Also, can anyone confirm whether this plugin works with anything other than the latest build of DAZ. I'm getting "plugin failed to load" for Measure Metrics and GOZ plugins. Using DS v4.6.1.39 Win 7 x64.

I'm pretty sure it requires the current version of DS. ATM it is only available through DIM

It does not appear to work on previous DS release versions before the current one. I have DS v4.6.1.39 loaded and it did not load for me either in that version. it only loaded correctly in DS 4.6.2.118. Win 8.1 64bit.

It requires 4.6.2.106 or higher (that was the last beta version).

Here are my steps to use the system...
Load figure and morph to shape Male or Female, here it's just V4
Then apply the Pose to the figure followed with the Wearables Metrics I will use..
This keeps the figure selected which is needed.. then I run the Script
The Script for me opens populated but locked to defaults
I can then check the loaded nodes with a tick and edit.

I have not tried it on none Genesis figures at this time.. I'm no help there.

If the plugin requires a certain version of DS then I really wish they'd advertise as such instead of advertising v4.5+ which I think is misleading. I've downloaded the installer so that doesn't need DIM but if there are other files needed then they should also be available without DIM which I will not use and never intend to.

Please advertise these products with the correct specifications DAZ! This will prevent any the confusion in future.

The Figure Metrics presets are now available through Product Library -- please use care when installing, as some of the files need to be installed to appdata.

Thanks, it works now. I had to delete the session directory from my Measure's AppData folder. The custom template that I had to create must have taken precedence over the original script files.

I’m getting an error when I’m trying to install one of the files for Measure Metric using the DAZ Install Manager.

    The Error reads…

Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit) Public Build" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.x Public Build (64-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

I looked for that folder & I have no folder like that where it should be and I have 2 versions of Daz Studio 4.6 Builds (4.6.2.117 & 4.6.2.118), I believe the 4.6.2.118 is the latest Beta because I got part of Measure Metric with & not with 4.6.2.117.

I’m not sure if the problem Measure Metric or with Install Manager.

    Thanks,

Public Build is the Beta. There should also be a version that doesn't say Public Build for the general release.

I'm getting the same error as the person above. I have all the latest programs & DIM. Still it won't install. I noticed that my purchase stated that "This Product is a bundle that contains the following Produce... Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio BETA". I just bought this (Apr 2, 2014) and tried every suggestion given, but still cannot get past the path & register problem!! I am no noob and have purchased a considerable sum of your products over the years, but this is beginning to make me question continuing with DAZ and returning to Poser. I would appreciate any REAL help in getting this installed. Maybe getting rid of that BETA download would be of great help.

You should have separate packages for the general release (will just say "Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit)") and for the beta (which will have "Public Build" at the end). Ignore the one that says "Public Build" if you aren't using the beta.

Why is Measure Metrics checking Public or beta version? I can see having different installers between public or beta (due to different installation paths), but if the plugin is installed in the correct directories it shouldn't matter if it's the public or beta version of DS. This seems to be causing unnecessary confusion among users. Perhaps the plugin just needs to check that DS is above a certain version number, not whether it is beta or public version.
