trying to find armor

Hi Guys and Gals! I am fixing to start a scene where I need some armor. I have been browsing the store and web for anything and everything but have come up with very little. Here is a sketchy description of the scene (still haven't nailed it down):

-Biblical times
-Joshua as a waroir
-Heat of battle
-running out of day light
-calls for the sun to stand still

I figure he will be elevated slightly above the crowd of battle (on a rock or something) and while fending off an attack, he will be calling out to the sun to "STOP!"

My issue and why I am posting here for your help. I need armor or outfit that will suite this scene without it being too fantasy inspired....any Ideas?

It has to be for Poser and Michael 4. I like to edit the textures so that isn't too much of a worry for me.

Thanks for your help!

You might be able to use some of the pieces from this: http://xurge3d.com/inc/sdetail/26385/69487

If you have a picture of what you are looking for, some folks might respond with something closer to what you imagine....in my mind I see using the tunic and some leg armor from other sets. I'd love to see your finished image--it sounds cool.

Thanks Frank! I have a few saved out of those. Might be able to piece something together.

Here is something that has inspired me to do this seen. I like the simplicity of his armor in this.

AWESOME! I found that one too. they also have an expansion texture for that outfit. it looks like this. I could use parts of that. I don't want it to look too roman though.

How about this as a starting point ? It's suitably 'biblical" looking, and is roughly historically plausible.

With the right texture, the chest plate from this set Cyberpunk M4 might work.

First, forget anything that's chain, plate or banded...all of those are too 'late' for the time period. Padded, some kind of leather or scale were the order of the day, if anything more than a helmet was worn.

Secondly, there would likely be an Egyptian influence, if not an outright 'borrowing' of Egyptian armor. This was a people that just spent forty years as desert nomads. They aren't going to have much in the way of metal working or distinctive styles of their own. So anything they do have is likely to have been captured...or they just do without any. And in most cases, the scales would have butted against each other rather than overlap.

Thanks for the idea! I will most likely have to do something like that.

I couldn't agree with you more! Anything they would have had was most likely taken from victories in battle. I was wanting leather and leather straps. maybe for Joshua, he would have had a captured chest plate.

Good thinking on the Egyptian influence! Im kinda ashamed I didn't think of that sooner.

Something to think about is, I do these images for young kids, for the most part, and I don't want a lot a grown or legs showing. got to keep it PG you know.

I like the pants on this but it would need a lot of work to make it biblical times. drop the boots, of coarse, and possibly the knee pads.

theres a lot I could do with this, I think. I like the leather tunic straps and the cloth tunic, but I would want to make it sleeveless. change some textures to help hide the fact that it is roman and I think its doable. ditch the helmet and shield too.

im not sure why I like this but I do. theres a lot going on. I think thats why. I do want a lot of detail like straps and satchels, belts daggers. you know stuff to make the outfit work well.

I'm wondering if you could get away with Viking inspired bits with some texture swaps.

Check Meshbox.com. They have a large Biblical times theme. Also check Pappy411 over at Rendo. He has done a large number of Biblical outfits which are Poser Dynamic and work as well on M4 as M3.

You might want to email Xurge about his Roman era armor for M3 from the old Poser Pros. I've never had conversion issues with his products between M3 and M4 using Wardrobe Wizard.

The Roman armor is no longer for sale but he would likely consider a private sale.

You also might want to check out John Malis here at DAZ

Granted, they are originally for M1/M2 as well as some M3 products but they are another set of products that stand up well to conversion in Wardrobe Wizard.

Looks like the project is coming along well. Looked at the pic you posted. The shield ( as it stands) is wrong - at the time would have likely been woven cane, or just plain leather. This model might be of help, more correct for biblical times. http://www.daz3d.com/egyptian-knight-for-david-3. Other models in the Egyptian theme are full of ideas and possibilities

thanks for your reply. I would agree that the shield doenst match the times too well but I want a balance of realism and fantasy. I still want the scene to be appealing to everybody, even though it may not be 100% accurate. that shield you sent to me to look at just isn't what I had in mind and I don't really like it.

Be prepared to make use of the polygon group editing tool to build new matt zones on some of the things you've shown us sample pics of. Some of them are all one garment rather than a group of separate items that can be added or subtracted at will.
