AoA Advanced Ambient Light - question/problem of understanding
Hello!
Currently I am playing aroung with the AoA Advanced Ambient Light, trying to learn and understand this light.
But I have a problem, because I dont know how to set up and use it correctly.
As far as I can see, this is some kind of environment light with a limited distance. Is this correct?
So, when you set it up it creates a light sphere in which everything is evenly lit. It has no real "light source". So it makes no difference if you place the light in front of a character or behind it. As long as the full character is within the light radius, the result is always the same.
But if you move it further away from the character or narrow down the light radius, suddenly the placement becomes important and it works more like a point light with fall off.
What do you say? Are my observations correct?
Also, I have no idea how to "flag" surfaces for not being lit by the light. Lets say, I have a character standing on a floor, in front of a wall. Now I want the light to light the character (with hair and clothes), but not the wall and not the floor. How can I do this?
