Choosing pose reshapes a shaped figure :( Way to prevent that from happening???

I started out with the genesis basic figures, and I have managed to shape them using Pose & Animate, and the Shaping tab. I am actually quite pleased with the anatomy. But now when I choose a different pose from the actors, wardrop, props tab, then select poses. It changes what I have shaped back to the original form. Sigh. Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

I may not bump my post just to say thank you, so I appreciate your help

Well, as you just posted you used a pose to shape the figure, any pose you add will replace that pose. The Rig of the bones will adjust to the pose you apply. I have no clue what you mean by using Animate to shape a figure, but that is also just a moving pose tool. You need to create a figure Morph to the shape you want and then adjust the Rig (bones of the figure) so it will keep the shape you make and then pose properly.

well I meant that I just used the animate tab. Well I guess just ignore that part then because it's off to the left of the screen.

I see, so I reshaped a pose's anatomy and form. I did not create that figure from scratch. Dang, does that mean I have to start all over? It took a few days to get it just right.

Is there no way I can just save that form as a new characters, then use poses to bend it?

Creating a figure morph, rig of bones, ....that goes over my head. I am new at this and sort of need a walkthrough it. Like File > Save >blah blah. Hm.... I guess I will read over your post and go back and search for similar words lol

I'll look into it for you as well. It might be doable and easier than you think. Can you post the Grey Skinned version of the figure made from the poses? It might help if I knew how much you changed the shape. If the shape is not a very sexual thing that is. Then please do not post it here for all to see as it might not be allowed on the Forums.

Um, I really have no way of know how to do what you are asking. Simply because I'm not very 3D software savvy.

I went to file > save as > character preset, which did not save it as a new actor.

I also went to file > save as > Shaping Preset, so if I start out with any basic male or female genesis figure, clicking on this new preset does nothing.

I am able to open the character preset to prevent from having to start all over. But as far as setting a new pose for it, it goes back to the standard figure's anatomy form.

Appreciate your time. Because if it is possible, I plan to purchase Poses in the future.

Another problem I have is the BlankBoi from 3DZToonz, I loaded him off to the side but I cannot save him as an Actor. It would be easier to load him from the Smart Content Files tab on the left, rather than from the Content library tab on the right.

Only new content has the Smart tag (metadata) that makes it work in the Smart content Tab. Older figures are still Poser format only and only found in the Content Library Tab until Metadata is made for them.

My suspicion is that the preset pose you are applying after you have manually morphed the figure has a 'morph-set' associated with it and is over-riding what you have done. Try Ctrl-clicking on the pose and when the options dialog appears unchecking the 'morphforms' check box.

Ctrl-Clicking did bring up a menu, and I unchecked the morphforms check box like you have suggested. But confirming still changes the anatomy. The thickness, body shape, and anatomy did not keep it's form.

    However!

After playing around with those settings, it is not morphforms, but rather Scale.

Keeping the Ctrl-Clicking on the poses directions like you suggested...

....there is Translation, Rotation, and Scale. The only things needed to be unchecked are - Scale: X Axis, Y Axis, Z Axis, and General : )

woot! Happy, now I can purchase more poses. Thanks!
