Need An Explanation Concering Textures

I was looking at textures made available by Yughughes aka Nobiax, over at sharecg. I opened them and was looking at them in Paintshop and came across images that I have also seen in other packages made by people and was curious how these translated for use in Daz.
In Yughughes textures, he has diffuse, specular and normal images. The diffuse looks like a regular texture jpeg image, the normal looks like a weirdly colored bump (mostly blue) and specular looks like it could be used for bump or displacement. If I am to use these in Daz, how would I go about using the normal and specular in the surfaces tab to add these images?

The Surfaces pane in DAZ Studio has sliders for Normal and Specular. Click on the little down facing triangle on each of the tabs to load the image (just the same way as you would load a Diffuse image)
The images you have seen in other packages are they from merchant resource packages or other freebies? Most merchant resource packages do not permit use in freebies. It would have to state clearly in the read me that the MR can be used in freebies. If it doesn't state it, they can't be used. Doesn't matter if they are just taking parts like bump, specular, normal or jpgs.
If they are parts of other freebies, you would have to check the freebies to see if they allow for redistribution.
If you think some or all of the parts of these textures may have been taken from some other creator or vendor, I'd stay away from them.
If its for personal use it's fine. If you plan on redistributing then it's prohibited
The very simple answer would be to add them to the relevant section of the Surface properties of the item in question. Depending on what the textures are and what the surface of the item you wish to add them to are you may get 'interesting' results.
The 'standard shader' DAZ Studio Default has properties for Specular Color, Diffuse Color and Normal Map. Use the little arrow to the left of the label to pull up the file browser, then navigate to where the files are and select which one to add.
icprncss...These are the files I am talking about...

I never said they were a merchant resource. They are just freebies given and I was checking the files.

Scroll down to "PART 2: TEXTURE SYNONYMS IN OTHER PROGRAMS"
It will have all of Yughues'/Nobiax's texture names listed (and more) Just ignore most of the text in that section if it confuses you, and remember that Nobiax's textures were ones that I had particularly in mind when I created most of those entries.
As my guide in the link indicates, HIS EMISSIVE MAPS LOOK AWESOME AS AMBIENT COLOR MAPS. Set the color to white and the strength in the high range (60~100% depending on what lighting you use.
BTW, That link also has a guide to the various default and shader textures in DAZ-- it's not 100% accurate, but it's pretty close now (enough that my feedback has been that it's acceptable as a non-professional guide) You can read that if you need to understand more about normalmaps and other types (I try to keep things as simple as possible, but it still needs more work)
For whatever it means, the useage rights shown on ShareCG for that item state "Unrestricted use....May be used for any purpose"
