have any of you looked at the nVidia fairy demo a new dawn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bI1_quVr_3w
(no relation of the other namesake)
I think she looks a lot like a Daz figure but was made by Steven Geisler
I think she would be quite reproducible with Daz content

I think that was an older video from a prior generation of their graphic cards a few years ago. I didn't recognize the character. Liked how they simulated the breeze in her hair, but this wasn't reflected in the breakup of that little light-particle design she drew with her finger. I liked the music. There was just enough minor-sounding musical tension that I was half-expecting she would be eaten by a bat or captured in a jar by some kid. Happy she wasn't; that would have put a damper on my day!

Darn, Wendy, you had my hopes up...here I thought that the Nvidia fairy was like the tooth fairy...lose a fan on your video card and the Nvidia fairy brings you a new card.

    Still a nice demo video.

The clothes and wings are already available for over 10 years ... not for a DAZ figure but for RDNA's LaRoo. It's called LaSprite. I'm sure it's possible to convert it over to Genesis.

looks very similar indeed, I have a XD3 license for V4 so maybe if supported

that video I linked btw is just nVidia's youtube upload the actual demo loads like a game on my pc with camera light, etc controls and I printscreened those images, unfortunately she is in a propriatory mesh format inc textures, other nVidia demos have all the textures at least in .dds format the earlier Dusk one even has a vjayjay on her texture! which is rather odd since she is clothed in leather pants.

Remember, Nvidia's Dawn came WAY before the Poser Dawn. The new Dawn looks pretty fantastic. Maybe somebody at Nvidia remembered the big spike in video card sales they got after the original was introduced! Some people only need a small excuse to go out and buy a new card...

The only thing frustrating about these demos was that there was no interface to reprogram the moves in the animation. Pretty as it is, you can only watch something like that so many times before it gets old.

A marketing fact: Human beings generally respond to attractive images, and often this translates into greater sales.

Many years ago, a buddy and I were at a restaurant/bar where one of our regular waitresses had the amazing realization that her tips were bigger when she wore her "daisy duke" shorts to work, and her tips really fell off when she wore jeans like most of the other girls working the bar or tables. All the girls were pretty but the shorts seemed to make the difference regardless if the dining parties consisted of all men or if there were women present.

She was sweet, so my buddy and I were like..."oh really? how shocking!", and then after she left..."duh!" :-)

yes interaction would be great, if only they used a more accessable model format one could even mod her a bit, there are mods out there but involve coding and usually aimed at removing her clothes!
I was thinking more reshaping face and retexturing!

...can't look at it as the Red-Blue 3D effect gives me terrible headaches.

Yep, me neither. I wonder if those old 3D glasses I have around here would work...

...edit: They work a little. Still looks red and blue and a bit 3D, but focus is not very sharp. Most importantly, no headache with the glasses on, hah!

...those glasses never worked for me as one eye is 20/60. The only 3D glasses that do are the ones they use now.

After watching the video a few times, there is a minor quibble I would raise. Short hair does not move like that. If you have hair that short, you can wiggle your head all you want, and the hair isn't going to flow back and forth like they did. I think they borrowed that feature from the Nalu demo, where the character is supposed to be underwater. They wanted to show off the fact that they could actually model polygonal hair moving, but since this model is not underwater, it looks odd.

What would have been nicer, which they might actually have done in a subtle way, is when she flexes her wings, the nearby lanterns could get pushed around. The lanterns seem to sway in the breeze, but it's not clear if she caused that. If the light flickered and the lanterns got perturbed when she flaps, that would be something.

Back in the day, the mod kit for the original Dawn consisted of the ATI driver patch, and the nood patch. All the 2nd patch did was swap out some texture files. When the ATI patch came out, the byline in the gaming press was, "Dawn sleeps with ATI."

...I wish they did a non 3D version so people with poor stereoscopic like myself vision could watch it.
