Optimising images should not change depending on the figure used - is it only V4 that slows down? Have you tried clearing your temp folder (location in Edit>Preferences)?
I've been experiencing that it takes quite some time to save scenes with V4 in later versions of daz, otherwise I experience no real slow-down.
I just saved a scene with V4 and Morphs++ loaded, along with the Base Genesis, and it took less than 10 seconds.
My PC is 3 years old, but it is an i7 with 16 GB RAM.
The reason I am mentioning this, is because there was an update this morning (which I installed) through DIM for the V4.2 base. I have no idea what was updated, maybe just Metadata?
So there is a new version of V4.2 I saw it flash up in the install manager and I thought I was dreaming, will have to have a look !
Me too, I was wondering what the heck needed to be updated after all this time :)
I had a lot of trouble with the update. I saw it on DIM a couple of days ago. I tried downloading and installing with DIM several times. Just kept getting "Install failed" at about the end the DIM installation. So it looked like the old V4.2 might be gone but the new not installed. It was panic time. Finally had to manually download and install the files. Then run the create V4 file in the !DAZ folder. After that I eimported metadata into the content library in order to get her to show up in smart content. What a pain.

Are you installing into My Library or My DAZ 3D Library? If installing to My Library then you should uninstall the previous version and install new to make sure there are no conflicts. If installing manually you may need to re-import your metadata
Hi Frank:
I have pretty much done all that. DIM was trying to install the update to My DAZ 3D library for DS 4.6; but since I have DS 3.2 installed as well there was another copy in My Library. And I think that may be why install failed. Anyway all seems to be well now.

Good to see you got it figured out
ok the problem had to do with the Skin Overlay thing (LIE)
theres something wrong with this
http://www.daz3d.com/skin-overlay-for-v4-and-m4-skin-sets
it lets my cpu work like mad and that doesn't stop even if I delete the targeted character
I think it has to do with this optimising images thing working endlessly
I remember times where this worked fine on the same pc
I have Also ran into this... it is a LIE and Overlay issue. THANK You for confirming it. Please send a Ticket and I will add my info to the ticket as well.
thx jaderail
