Morphing Mask for Genesis

Having bought every MFD there is, I like so much that I can use the same mats on some many different figures. I do wish something similar for the Morphing face mask for the generation 3 figures.

    Ooh! Nice one, Ghastly! :cheese:

I've been looking for a basic mask like that for Genesis for the longest time! It would be great if there were Mardi Gras textures for it! :)

The original V3 versions of the MFD, Fantasy Collar and Morphing Face mask were PC items. A bundle Morphing face masks for V3, M3, SP3 and F3 was released later.

The MFD and Collar were refit for V4. I believe the M4 collar is a refit of the V3 version. They all take the same textures.

The MFD and collar have been refit again for Genesis and now the G2F/M figures.

If you get the "V3 and M3 Shapes for Genesis" the V3 morphing mask will work just fine. When the autofit dialogue comes up, say it's originally for Victoria 3 and it's a "body suit" then "tight" and you're there.

It's the only thing I've actually ever used the Gen 3 for Genesis stuff for. Not much of a waste, though, because I got it with those "green stamps" things that can only be used on DAZ originals. Like the 50 March madness "dollars" I have to spend by tomorrow.

That gives you a "live" mask that will follow facial morphs. Some texture packs actually look better if you just place it, scale x, y, and z till it fits, and parent it to the head. That's what I do for Genesis 2. I haven't got the Gen 3 for Genesis 2 yet.

I wish someone would "port" the mask properly to Genesis 1 and 2. Everything else from the MFD family (fantasy dress, collars, hood, expansion pack) got updated from Gen 3 to Gen 4, Genesis 1, and Genesis 2. Only the poor little face mask got left behind. There's so much great content for the mask. I have over a dozen texture packs for it that use it for everything from tiaras, to forehead jewelry and mardigras masks.

A lot of the Morphing Fantasy Dress texture packages (mostly by Moira or LaurieS) include textures for the morphing mask:
    Blood Lust
    Princess of Atlantis
    Princess of India
    Princess of China
    Princess of Eire
    The Princess Tunics
    Once Upon A Time: Camelot
Once Upon A Time: Storybook Princesses
    Once Upon A Time: Cinderella

There's also stuff that's just for the morphing mask, not an accessory to the morphing fantasy dress
    ButterBlossoms
V3 Morphing Face Mask Texture Pack 1
    Masquerade
    'Glitter' for V3 Face Mask

I have one set of hair, can't remember which, that also came with a texture for the morphing face mask.

Hmm... I tried using Ghastly's ShareCG mask on some of my characters. While It does look interesting on realistic figures, it appears to look rather... odd on stylized faces...

(Figure below is a mix of H3, H4, and H5.)

I've been looking for a basic mask like that for Genesis for the longest time! It would be great if there were Mardi Gras textures for it! :)

Well, there's a free "Textures for Ghastly's Ghastly Masks" pack on ShareGC that's at least "Mardi Gras"-ish. (I've never tried this, but it's free, so have at it)

Search for "masquerade" on the free stuff section of Renderosity. There's Valea's V4 mask and three texture packs that will give you a ton of looks. The mask should autofit to Genesis. Try the same thing I recommended for the V3 morphing fantasy mask, "bodysuit" -> "tight". (This is another one that I've never tried, but, but, but, free!)

There's "V3 Morphing Face Mask Texture Pack 1" and "Masquerade" for the "V3 Morphing Face Mask". Those three items are $1.99 each, so $6 gets you a pretty versatile Mardi Gras mask and texture collection. There's free stuff for that mask on other sites, too. Unfortunately, March Madness green-stamps don't work on $1.99 items. I'd skip the "V3 and M3 Shapes for Genesis" that I mentioned earlier. Yeah, that's $13.96 in the current sale (and green-stamps work on it), but I think they fit the mask too tight for the Mardi Gras mask textures to look good. Autofit is a lot more beneficial if you're getting jewelry textures like "‘Glitter’ for V3 Face Mask" or all those "Princess of this or that" packages I mentioned earlier.

If you already have the Genesis Stupor Suit, there's a Mardi Gras Supersuit add-on. $10.47 in the current sale, and you can use green-stamps on it (you can use them on the Super Suit, too, if you have a lot of green-stamps). If you bought the Super Suit Pro Bundle, you already have Mardi Gras Supersuit buried deep in your content library.

I'll just ride off into the sunset now.

    Who was that mask man?

    Genesis Stupor Suit? :)

That is true, you can do masks with the Supersuit. However, the Supersuit doesn't have a mouth or nostrils and it's material zones aren't ideal for something like the traditional masks you'd see in costume or art store. Valea’s V4 & M4 Masks are indeed more ideal to what I'm referring in preference, but since it's a Gen 4 item, my only concern is any mesh smearing I'll have post-Autofit.

You could try the polygon group editor. Way back in the early days of Poser, one way to make quick and dirty masks (Poser ProPack and up) was to select the polygons and spawn a prop from them. You would then parent the prop and check follow the bends of the parent.

If you needed multiple mat zones, you could do it in a UV mapping app, a modelling app with UV mapping. Not sure if the Polygon group editor can create mat zones or add materials.

I can. It's just tedious as hell sometimes... :P

Why am I not really convinced it was a spell check error? The Super Suit for all it's hype just never seemed to gain popularity.

LOL it took everything not to let it slip when this thread first started. - also all texture packs for the original mask have material settings for the new masks.

Am i missing something? I bought that mask, but I cannot find any morphs. No dials in parameters, no poses, nothing to make it change shape whatsoever.

The mask will morph with Genesis and Genesis 2 figures so it will follow Say Victoria 6 or Micheal 6 stephanie and so on. The original mask did not have morphs that changed its shape, only morphs that went with V3

if you look at the features it kind of tells you what it does

100's of Face Morphs Matching All of the Face Morphs from the Following Morph Paks
    Victoria 3.0 Head Morph Pak
    Victoria 3.0 Male Morph Pak
    V3 Morph Expansion Pak 1
Will Match any Face Pose Created Using These Morphs
    To Use:
Select Victoria's Face and Then "Edit>Copy"
Select Face Mask and Then "Edit>Paste"
Or Apply a Saved Face Pose from the Face Library
Set Bend, Side to Side, and Twist Dials on Mask Back to Zero if Those Dial Values from Victoria where Pasted as Well
    Render

The new masks still morph to your characters like the old one did,

Nice, but still not like the blank Venetian costume/art store ones...
