Light now passing through objects?

Can someone tell me why all of a sudden, light is not being blocked by clothing? I don't remember having this problem before, but you can see in this example image, the red backlight is shining right through the hood. This also happened with the inside of a gladiator helmet, which certainly should have blocked light as well.

I've tried four different lights and they all do this. Shadows are turned on, using latest Studio release. Any advice is appreciated. :)

I am going to guess that the shader used on the product is the uber shader and that the item is not double thick. The off color on the inside is one of those uber things that has always happened on the "inside" of things.

Thanks, but no, the hood is using the default DAZ Studio shader. I just tried adding a red default Distant Light and it also lights up the inside. It even does it if it's the only light in the scene.

The same thing happened with the Caput Caseum helmet too, and that also was using the default shader.

What kind of shadows (Mapped / Raytraced)?
Have you changed the Shadow Softness or Shadow Bias values?

Also, check the ambience setting on the surface of the hood. Maybe it is set up to "glow."

Ye looks like ambient is too high.

If the light is shining through the hood wouldn't it be translucency on the hood itself? I'm not sure I could be confusing it with something else. It could also be ambient so I'd check both

Think only if a SSS shader or something like that is assigned, then you would get that glow..otherwise it looks like ambient. It could also be velvet settings....Just realized that velvet can cause internal glow as well.

No ambient (black and at 0%), using default shader (so no Velvet, SSS, or translucency), shadows are raytraced, tried using softness and without, bias is .010. Just tried it with a default blue spotlight shining from behind, same results.

So...yeah, it doesn't appear to be any of those things.

Is it possible the hood is a light emitter?

Well Snow, I am stumped too. What cloak are you using? I probably have it and I can check if I get the same reuslts. Does this happen with any other items besides the cloak and the helmet you mentioned?

    I'm getting it too....

i converted Vintorix'x 'assassin hood for M4' to Genesis, and it's doing the same thing.

    ==added==

Just completed another test render. This time with raytraced shadows ON on the backlight AND shadow bias parameter set to 'no limits' and a bias of -0,01 and it is gone...

Hood is not a light emitter, no. I did use an Advanced Ambient Light in the example image, but then I removed it and the red spotlight still shone through the hood.

The outfit is the Forest Scout with the additional textures.

I'll check and also rebuild the scene and see if it fixes things here. Thanks for the help so far.

Is shadows enabled on the spotlight?

Rebuilding the scene did fix my problem, but I think the issue may have very well been that the rear spotlight didn't have shadows turned on. I'm not sure if not having shadows enabled causes light to shine through on all objects though, as I haven't always turned shadows on backlighting. Anyway, guess it's solved for now. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and help.

Single thickness clothing tends to 'leak' more than most anything else, too...the Vintorix hood is single thickness and when I doubled it up, there was less, but didn't completely go away, until I put the bias 'out of range'.
