M4 gens map on G2M gens

The inevitable gens post is here!

I have G2M and the gens, as well as the M4 UV set for G2M. To get M4 maps onto G2M I've put the maps onto Genesis and exported it as a material preset then applied it to G2M using the genesis UV map and that worked like a charm, but the same could not be said with the gens.

Does anyone know how to do this? Am I missing a simple piece of content that will do all of this for me?

Or, is there an M4 Rob texture for G2M? He's really the only M4 map I use lol

I'd attach screenshots but... you know.

this one http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male says it's updated for the gens. :)

"texture presets must be converted to duf first"

Somehow I knew it'd be you or wendy who answered this xD

I did the convert-to-duf step for both and it didn't work for the gens. Although, I haven't updated any files in ages. I don't know why "check for updates" is always my last thought. I'll try that later, thanks!

I just use M4's gens and fit them manually to Genesis or G2M. It's pretty easy to do - load, position, create a smoothing modifier, set Hip as parent and you're done.

I tried that a while ago and I couldnt get rid of the wrinkled geometry look that comes with some smoothing mods. I'll try again, that's a good idea. I can just do some postwork if push comes to shove. It's not necessarily a huge part of my renders lol

    Where were you getting wrinkles?

After I have the gens positioned and I parent them to the hip, I go to Edit: Figure: Geometry: Apply smoothing modifier. Them I make sure Genesis or G2M is the figure for colliding.

It you positioned it right, it should look seamless. Occasionally I've had to change the smoothing and collision settings.

It's been a while since I tried, but I think I got wrinkles around the the edges of where the model collides with the figure. I have to make adjustments in the hundredths, if not thousandths to prevent it.

With enough fiddling I can probably get it to work, I just don't want someone to walk in when I have a 1920x1080 screen full of... ahem.

I find that I have an easier time fitting in lit wireframe mode.

Here's the instructions for using the m4 texttures on the G2M gens, found on the M4 for G2M wiki page (there should also be a copy in your readme folder): http://docs.daz3d.com/lib/exe/fetch.php/public/read_me/index/17664/17664_michael-4-for-genesis-2-male.pdf

M4 gens should be parented to the pelvis btw, not the hip. Otherwise you end up with rotation problems.
