Skin Resource Kits

March Madness, sales, etc.
Generaly speaking I have made my own textures for various models.
I take a template, or a preexisting texture (I use that figures, bump, spec, etc) into Photoshop, create a new layer and
transform a photo over it. After awhile of cloning save and apply.
Works but takes awhile and often the results are less then satisfacfactory.
Underline use templates etc.
What is the purpose of Resource kits specifically for skin?
Am I buying, in effect, templates?
Thank you for what is basically a stupid question

A texture resource kit will have maps that are designed to be used in the creation of new textures, as a base layer onto which new elements will be layered or as a source of details to be layered onto a base texture. They differ from regular sets in the format they are delivered in (usually, though not always, a .psd or at least a lossless format like PNG or Tiff) and most importantly in their usage rights (they allow texture sets made from them, provided they are sufficiently different, to be sold by the maker - few if any allow the results to be given away as freebies).
Thank you for your reply.
Not trying to be a lawyer, or rip anyone off.
But from what you are saying, I think.....
For my own use, not for resale, etc.
I take a purchased set, say one of Jepe's.
I apply it in DAZ to the figure.. it gives me the location of the maps.
I take the face map, open a copy in photoshot, layer my photo over it.clone, etc,
Save and substitute my created face map.In this process, where would a skin resource kit come in???
I could have used a template for instance but the principal is the same.
My goal in this is to basically create morphs of existing people, apply their faces to the created
Morphs, No sales are intended, honestly
If there is something like a skin resource kit, that would contribute to the overall results
would help a lot.
Thank you again
I think for your workflow, bicc, the main difference that you would see is that the skin resource actually has a skin to start from. Templates are usually just basic images (often black and white meshes) so if your photo doesn't exactly line up on the seams of the UV template, you have to fill it in yourself. In the case of a merchant resource, you have some skin to start with and only really need to be concerned with blending the photo into the face (or I suppose sometimes body) textures.
Thank you, got the idea. appreciate your time.
The Merchant resources are a base texture of a seamless full character skin to be used with creating your own custom skins. You can alter the base skins in whatever way you need too, whether it be adding more skin elements, more facial features, makeups, blemishes or body-art. You can do what your heart desires. You can even change the skin colour or tone if that's what you wish.
You can sell the skins on as your own creations, as long as you change the skin in some way. However, you cannot sell the set on as it is without any alterations.
In another instance, if you bought a pre-made character from the store, you could alter that for your own personal use, like you have been doing. But under no circumstance could you resell said character, or pass it on to others as a free item.
I hope that helps,
Anna
PS, I replied to you in PM, but just in case, I'll reply here also.
Thank you very very much for the time and explanation.
Appreciate it.
Also, checked no pm.
Fast question.
Have you plans in the future for a tutorial on creating textures.?
If not, would it be possible to purchase something privately.
Thanks again.
