Say you want to make some cloths for Genesis 2 but all you have is Vicky ?
Sense DAZ Studio has tools to have cloths fit any mesh do you need all the other character G2,S2 .etc etc morphs ?
Is there a manikin for sell for all the other morphs that's in most cloths ?
Should I partner with someone ?
Not sure what I should do here ,I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks

I'm open to contradiction here but I rather thought that if an outfit fits G2F then it should fit all of the characters based upon it. They all use the same basic mathematical mesh.
If you make clothing for Genesis 2 Female, it should automatically fit all Genesis 2 Female characters. However, in order to create custom fits for characters like S6, Gia, Girl 6, etc. I believe you do need to own those morphs. Custom fits would probably work better (you can work in breast bridging, etc.) but strictly speaking are not necessary.
Some venders have G2,S2 .etc etc morphs .So I don't know if you can sell cloths with out them. but StreetWear does not .they have FBMExpandall.
StreetWear in What's Included & Features
http://www.daz3d.com/clothing-accessories/rogue-sci-fi-suit-for-v6
has for jacket ,pants ,boots has "FBMExpandall"
What does FBMExpandall mean ?
Thanks
It will just be a morph to make the clothing fuller - ie moved out away from the body to stop it looking like it's clinging to the skin
FBM at the beginning means Full Body Morph
The process is actually fairly long. You would make your item, based on the base figure. In this case, for a female, Genesis 2 Female. You then run it through the transfer utility, which does get you close. And then lots of work begins. For really great fits, you may first need to adjust the fit to the base depending on how well it transferred. And again, for really great working clothing, you may need to move joints and do morphs so the clothing moves naturally, for instance as the thigh is bent, moved side to side or twisted. So, you basically check the movement of each joint and make morph adjustments to correct any problems there.
As for if you only have Vicky. If you have G2F and V6, you will be able to do clothing that is for those figures. If you want to know it works with Olympia, and advertise that it is for Olympia (or any other figure), you will need to more than likely do a few adjustments for her, if you want to keep your quality level.
An example could be my recently released cross strap heels. They are fit to all of the new G2F figures. One might not think feet would be all that different, but... Wow they are different. The toes and the ankles are the most differing areas. Olympia for instance has much more pronounced ankles.... or they 'stand out' more vs. the G2F base. Well, a strap should not closely follow the mesh when the mesh makes an inward curve, it should run in a fairly straight line. So, to keep the quality high, the heels needed to be tested on each character. Also, you need to test and correct each morph that effects the feet. Body builder for instance. Some repairs are pretty tiny, some are pretty huge.
You can see each of the morphs created by the artist, for any particular item by:
1. Load the item onto the figure
2. In the scene tab, click on the item to highlight it.
3. In the parameters tab, click the settings icon (the gear) and set 'show hidden items'.
4. Click All at the top of the parameters.
5. Scroll down and look in particular for the greyed out items for the names of the morphs.
If morphs were needed/done to improve the fit, you will see each of those listed. There may be none. I do have some items with maybe 40 or 50 morph fits just for one item. It varies based on the item. In the case of the heels mentioned above, the body morphs such as body builder, pear shape and so on, had very little effect on the feet or at least not a negative impact on the shoes. However, all but Girl 6 did have enough effect in my opinion, to need to be morphed, in this case, there were adjustments for fitting to 5 other figures. There were 8 morphs to fit the item as the foot and toes move.
This is just one example. It varies widely based on the item you are working on and how well you want it to fit in any situation and even on the type of material. Obviously woven cotton has little stretch while a cotton knit can be almost like elastic. These automatic fits don't show up on the store pages. So, sometimes some of the best work, with all of this automated work done for you, looks like it might not have the adjustments you want. Only the manual adjustments are listed. Those would be the ones that show under parameters when 'Show Hidden' is turned off, or under the shaping tab. The store pages don't show these morphs, but only the ones that are created with visible dials for the user. So you really can't count the morphs on the store page and assume a particular quality level.
Whew... I hope that helps for at least a starting point?
dumorian Thanks for all the info.
dumorian you customize every characters morph & StreetWear does a Full Body Morph Expandall for a one size fits all.
Since dumorian meshes fits better then StreetWears, dumorian meshes will have a better reputation and sell better ?
dumorian
how many working hours did it take to make cross strap heals ?
how many working hours did it take to make lofn ?
from the sounds of it takes longer to make all those morphs ?
It seems like a lot of work on lofn for just $25.00.is it worth it ?
I hate to sound like a tyrant but a kid hit my car it was a good car but 12 years old & since the car was 12 years old didn't have much value.so where attempting to fix the car are selfs & junk yards are not as cheep as Walmart not even close or find a good car that we can afford. Anyways need transportation.
Thanks
I wouldn't go into this expecting a 'get rich quick' scenario. It's a long process when you're new to creating your own content, and there are a lot of hurdles to jump which you might not expect. There's also an element of risk involved. Not every item becomes a big seller overnight, so expect a few items to miss the mark while you're mastering your craft. Being in a similar situation (not the car thing, but wanting to develop clothing for Genesis 2), I'll let you in on a few of the pitfalls I've come across thus far.
Firstly, the transfer utility can't be trusted to retain your items original shape. This goes double for dresses, footwear and gloves where the bone layout is a bit more complex for those items. Dresses in particular will gather up between the legs and create an unsightly 'V' shape mess, which can be nightmare fuel to remedy. I've still yet to find a workflow to deal with this effectively beyond creating dozens of fixer morphs for every figure shape imaginable. With this in mind, use the transfer utility as a starting point only, not your end goal.
Mesh topology is crucial. A bad topology may cause figure bends to behave in unpleasant ways. A good topology will also help you create better morphs for folds and bends to give the outfit a more organic appearance, as opposed to a static piece. Always keep this in mind when modeling your item as it is key for everything that follows after.
You'll love to hate weightmaps. When you apply the transfer utility to your item, Daz gives some very basic weight maps to the clothing based on the Genesis mesh. Unfortunately most, if not all of these will need to be reworked to make the bends more realistic and natural. Expect hours of frustration as you try to get that last joint bending properly, only to realise that it looks odd when certain other bends are applied. Weight maps are what Daz uses to determine how each bone influences the movement of the clothing and by how much. It's a far more accurate method than the old radial bones, but it naturally requires a bit more forethought.
As for creating a full mody 'ExpandAll' morph, it's not really necessary. Ideally you want to customise the outfit for the individual characters you want to use. Expanding the outfit won't work alone since not all body proportions will be scaled the same way on different shapes. One thing to know about Streetwear is there behind the scenes morphs which fix issues for individual characters. To give one example, StreetWear Jeans have a specific morph for Michael 5 which is hidden by default, and is intended to replace the one automatically applied by Daz when you morph the base figure. You can create morphs for other characters in the same way to ensure it looks great no matter what figure you use.
With that said, I highly recommend at least having the main Daz figures (Victoria, Michael etc) if you intend to create clothing items that will appeal to a broad audience.
I've been working on my items on and off for the past month or so (I do have another full-time job, so I can't dedicate as much time to development as I would prefer), and it's still far from being at a stage where I could release it. Once I'm satisfied it meets consumer requirements I'll release it for public use. That being said, I'm still very fresh to the workflow, so I'm learning a lot of this as I go along. There's scant few resources for dealing with the various issues that crop up, and the forums don't always have all the answers. Expect a bit of trial and error to get the results you want.
The original question was if you have only G2F and Vicky.... can you make clothes for any Genesis 2 figure. I was trying to explain that one-size-fits-all doesn't always work. Sometimes it can. For me that is the exception. As for StreetWear, he makes great products. I'm certain it was not done without a lot of thought in a lot of areas to have a great outcome. There are often times several ways to get the same results... topology, weight maps, even textures and on an on. I believe your conclusions above are in error as it is not that simple. I don't know which StreetWear product you refer to... did you load the product? The ones I have do have more than one morph, but this is not pertinent to this conversation.
FYI, the Expandall morph on some of my items was created automatically when running the transfer utility. I actually keep meaning to test exactly which boxes are checked that makes this happen. :) I generally leave them as they might come in handy for something. Maybe it could work if another piece of clothing was under mine? There are a few of these auto morphs... I do need to remember to figure out what settings creates which of these morphs.
I'm not at liberty to discuss dollars. I don't keep a time clock on each of my products and it wouldn't be accurate anyway, as I'm still taking a lot of side trips to learn something new. I also work on more than one product at a time.
If you have an idea or have made something, give it a try, test it with what you have and if you want to say it is for other figures, ask a friend with those other figures to test it for you. That's really the only way to know.
If you did, then it would seem too much like work...
And even though I don't have anything for sale, yet, that's exactly what I find myself doing...I've got several things all being worked on right now...several of which I hope to be able to sell (finally).
Right now, clothing wise, I'm sticking with the 'basic' Genesis/G2F/G2M shapes...I don't have many of the additional shapes to custom fit to, so I'm not bothering...yet.
But, what can be done with the basics is very adequate...and for a lot of things, more than enough.
So there's some cloths for sell in the store that's just made for ‘basic’ Genesis/G2F/G2M shapes ?
I know the store has to agree to sell venders stuff & I don't know if the store will sell cloths just for ‘basic’ Genesis/G2F/G2M shapes
or just V6 ?
That's one thing I'm trying to understand.
but I do think cloths with all the morphs will sell better.
So I don't know if we made a out fit just for‘basic’ Genesis/G2F/G2M or just for V6 if the store would agree to sell it or if it would sell.
There's a lot about all this I just don't know but you all have been very helpful and educational ,Thanks.
I know there's no such thing as getting rich quick or even a rich Artist.
but after being a Artist for decades ,I can tell you all about being a starving Artist thou ;)
I just need to raze as much $$$ as possible to get from point A to Point B.
I don't think that's being greedy.
Since I only have V6 & don't have all the morphs ,Don't know the work flow all that well.
Think I alt to start with something more feasible like buildings or a mech or something ?
I know the store has to agree to sell venders cloths.
Will the store sell cloths just for ‘basic’ Genesis/G2F/G2M or Just for V6 ?
It got silent in here.
So a building or a Mech is a real bad idea ?
There are items made for only one figure such as V6, so yes. What you make totally depends on your talents.

It's always good to have customers perspectives.
I know a PA is a Vender but don't know what PA stands for .All I can think of is Production Artist ?
All this is just my personal opinion.
The reasons why venders make content varies.
Some for practice and to get better. they give there stuff away for free using Blender ,Gimp.
Some for a portfolio. I heard that AerySoul works for a gaming studio.
Some for money.
If it's for money It's all about what your working hours produce.
So your profit/loses would depend on how good & FAST you are.
We all know what studio Artist makes ,No one knows what a DAZ Poser vender makes.
Best guarded secret in the know universe.
But I do know if your going to be that good and that fast you need a high dollar studio.
No one makes a high dollar studio to make $10.00 dresses.
I think most of the venders are Pro Artist that make DAZ Poser stuff on weekends.
Mostly just to CGI and there not even worried about the money cause they live off there studio paycheck.
But I doubt very few if any can make enough $$$ to live on just buy being a DAZ Poser vender.
With no other income.
USA minimum wage is $7.25 .after taxes for 40 hours they net around $205.00 a week
Coal Minors make around $22.00 a hour. after taxes for 40 hours they net around $616.00 a week
$10.00 dresses or any thing for $10.00 .
So 60 $10.00 sells a week ya net $210.00 .to net about what a USA minimum wage job gets ya a week.
& 180 $10.00 sell a week ya net 630.00 .to net about what a Coal Minor gets a week.
I have my doubts about 60 sells every week much less 180.
Topology and weight maps go hand-in-hand. If you have poor topology you may get creases in unwanted areas when a figure bends. If you have poor weight maps, you may get unwanted bulges or stretching. There's a lot of things to consider when creating even a simple pair of pants, especially if you want it to look great on a variety of shapes.
Since starting on my own projects I've found dozens of pitfalls which can trap the unwary, and some of which don't have adequate documentation to help you fix them. The transfer utility can outright break some items of clothing, especially those which aren't close to the body, such as skirts. Aside from rigging every item manually or creating dozens of fixer morphs, I've yet to discover a workable solution to some of these issues.
Since RorrKonn is looking to sell these items, I thought it wise to point out that, while commendable, it's not a shortcut to wealth. It takes a lot of effort to make, and a bit of a learning curve. Not least of all there are no guarantees of success even when you have a final product. You could have a best-seller on your hands, or you could have a flop. it's down to the users at the end of the day, and speaking from experience, we can be a fickle bunch :D
I make enough to just barely support myself and my husband, however I work 80+ hours per week to do it.

Herald, I was not responding to your comment on StreetWear, but to RorrKonns... Sorry... I think your posts have been very good.
As for PA, it stands for Published Artist and there is a whole section under the Community tab labeled 'Publishing'. Here's where that takes you
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/publishing/start
I also like linvanchene's first post. Very well put IMO. I too have my 'criteria' for the products I purchase. :) I like to 'attempt' to do photo-realism in my renders. Some do cartoons, some highly stylized fantasy art... there is no end to the types of art people are doing and each can have a different requirement for what is used in those scenes.
The flexibility of this 3d world is vast. There are no single answers. For the most part, yes there are one-size-fits-all clothes, but they work about the same as real world clothes. Some of the one size clothes do fit some people really well and others not so great. When you go to the store... a very simple example is there are men's jeans and women's jeans. Most men don't buy women's jeans and most women don't buy men's jean, or at least most of the time not for themselves. When you go to a high end store, they often times have a tailor to 'fit to' you.
We want variety in our figures/people. You can have a one-size-fits-all look or you can have a tailored look. The tailored look does require a lot more work.
But to answer your original question, yes you can make clothing that only has a V6 custom morph in it. However, if you're very slick with your modeling you may be able to make a clothing item that won't need custom ones at all. But you have to avoid the problem areas: shoes, shoulder straps, belts, any details on the waist really, and fine details on or between the breasts (however a design that isn't meant to bridge across the breasts 'cause then it'll likely require some customs).. hard to come up with something that avoids those but still is detailed enough to sell, or even be accepted into the store, Daz is quite picky. Now I've managed to do it, my Faylinn outfit doesn't have any custom morphs in the gloves or leggings, only a couple in the top, and a handful in the shorts that are mostly 'cause I'm an utter perfectionist. It wouldn't have needed any of them to be perfectly fine sale quality. Now I'm not really sure exactly how I did it, doubt I could purposefully make a set that auto morphed so well if I tried, but I do have a pretty good idea now of what will fly and what won't.
So.. that's my recommendation.. make a mesh, run it through the transfer utility to rig it quickly and then try your V6 and evolution full body morphs on it to see how it auto morphs, find out where the problem areas are and adjust your mesh until you have a design that will automatically handle the majority of them acceptably... only then UV map and properly rig your item(s), Then it doesn't matter if the only custom morph in it is V6, cause it will still fit most of the others without looking like a mangled mess.
HAH!!!! Yup... too many times I'd much rather be lucky than good. :) When I start something I normally decide what is going to be the problem child... And so far, I've been wrong and something else was the problem child.
I have zbrush and I have been using it lately on my products but I'm still very green with it.. getting there.
It is my only job at the moment and I support myself and my house husband.. but you are right, very few can do it. It takes a good deal of time to get fast enough with the tools to be viable, I've been at this for.. um.. 9 year now and it wasn't the household's primary income until about a year ago.
Where we live has a economical impact. half to consider that also.
If your a Coal Minor living in the back woods of West Virginia ,then ya got it good.
If you live in Atlanta working a minimum wage job ,then ya got it real real bad.
It coast a lot more to live in Atlanta then back woods W.Va.
and what country ya live in also would make a very big difference.
For the same amount of Sells.
A Vender in Mexico would profit a lot more then a Vender in Germany.
zBrush ,Mudbox are the BEST ,FASTEST CGI App's out there.
Quixel ,Allegorithmic. Speed.
If your not competing with the best & fastest CGI App's then your not even in the game.
I live in Rochester, NY, it's about middle of the road cost of living for an American city. Our rent is about $900 for a mid sized 2 bedroom department, not classy and not skanky for reference.
I curently live in southern west virginia. it's a collection of smaller town's.
I live in the poor part of town in a small 2 bedroom brick house built back in the 1920's.
if ya ever been in a older school. with the single pain windows. ya get the house.
I tell everyone I live in a brick shack. lol.
utilities are about $800.00 a month. heating bill is killer.
& where for ever patching something.
In Atlanta 2 county's out they rent absolute dumbs for $200.00 a week.
