Got a new computer this weekend, actually went back to a mac from a pc. I'm wondering how to tell DIM I've already got stuff installed? Copied over all my stuff but I can't figure out how to tell DIM it's already there. Would hate to have to reinstall everything....

Thanks.

Look for the folder ManifestFiles -- default location on Windows is "C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles", I don't know what the corresponding location is on a Mac. Inside that folder is a .dsx file for each package installed by DIM, giving the version, content location, and exact files installed. Chances are the location you installed content to on Windows is different than the one you're using on the Mac, but that won't affect DIM considering the items installed, only DIM's ability to update or uninstall them.

Well this is very strange. I found the dsx files on the PC, and then I found the dsx files on the mac. Strange thing is they are all there on the mac. I don't know how they showed up. Perhaps I'll try copying over the log and ini files? This is very odd.

Make sure you're looking at the ManifestFiles folder -- the .dsx files in the Downloads folder are the pre-install files.

No these are in the ManifestsFiles. I saw the install files in the downloads folder. I hope someone can help because I really don't want to have to reinstall all my products.

    Thanks.

If you installed DIM as default on Mac OS X, you will in /Users/Shared/DAZ 3D/InstallManager have a folder named ManifestFiles.

Yes, I found those. They are ALL there, just like on my PC, yet DIM on my mac thinks nothing has been installed. So I should just copy over the dsx files that are there on my mac with the ones from the PC?

Thank you all for your help. Jaderail too. I was able to copy over all the manifest files and I moved my runtime to the right place and now all is well with DIM. Phew. I forgot how stressful it is to change computers....

    Thanks!

Well, at least on PC, it's the downloads that take longer than the installs; and once you have your settings correct in DIM, the installs don't take long at all. If you can at least get the install assets over to the new PC, that would save 95% of the time needed. But at least you got it done however you did.

But the really important question: Ain't you gonna tell us what kind of Mac you got?

LOL Sorry! I was so stressed about moving my 3D stuff I forgot to mention. I got a new 21" iMac, with Mavericks on it. It has two i5 processors, 8 gig of ram and a Nvidia Geforce card. Just set up the printer and my wacom last night so I'm almost there. The only thing I do not like is that these new iMacs don't come with a cd/dvd drive so I can't install any cd stuff until I get an external cd/dvd drive. Grrrr But other than that I am very happy even thought it's been stressful. Course now it will take me 6 months to pay it off. LOL

    :-)
