[Released]The Old Shopping Arcade [Commercial]
My next set is coming soon OUT NOW! - The Old Shopping Arcade:
https://www.daz3d.com/the-old-shopping-arcade
The atmosphere of an old shopping arcade comes to Daz Studio.
It's a complete interior with basic exterior facade-entrance. All doors open, revolving doors revolve, metal shutters shut, etc. The shop interiors use low-ish poly models with either shaders or low-res textures - designed as background props, they look good (IMO) through the shop windows/open doors (not intended for up-close shots). This keeps the resources down. Nonetheless, it's still a big set so remove anything that's not in camera/reflection to keep render times down (especially with all that glass)
One of the preloads uses as much instancing as possible without sacrificing functionality or the look (99% of the time you'll want to use this one). There's also a preload for the shops in the 'shut for the night' mode (shop interiors and front walls/windows have been removed to keep resources light).
7 cameras are included for ease of use. Also included are 2 Render Presets to change tone-mapping for interior vs exterior shots.
Got characters that love shopping? Then they'll love the Old Shopping Arcade!

cool
Thanks
Very nice Silent Winter. I have many uses for an asset like this. I look forward to the release.

Glad to hear it David - it's through QA so it's just waiting on them setting up the store page / readme and then a release window - hopefully soon
Looks awesome!
Thanks
Choice! I really like the look of this. As a compulsive retexturer, will it be easy enough to change them?
Cheers
Lorraine
^For the most part they're mapped pretty well for retexturing. Some props, due to their shape, might show up a tiling texture a bit more, but things like the walls, floor, pillars, etc can take any tiling map you like. There's also a blank texture for each of the two shop signs in the runtime textures folder (which I totally spaced on adding a note about - so insider info) - dig that out and rename your own shops using an overlay in GIMP/Photoshop. The shop window decals are their own props with a nice flat map so it's again easy to do new ones for that. The shop shelves and counter share a tiling wood texture (2 kinds) - changing those is easy too. A lot of the shop props use shaders where possible - there'll be a better look at those on the store page when it's ready.
It's easy enough to slap a new shader on them if that's your thing. If you're into doing more 'create new textures' then it's certainly doable.
Hope that helps - would love to see what you make of it when the time comes :)
Ha!
There's that word again; even worse it's sat next to 'hopefully'.
Nice looking product. :)
Just an update to announce that this is out now:

and in my cart.
In my runtime.
Thanks to both of you :) (and everyone else who's bought it ;) )
Bought it and finally got to have a play with it today. Converted it to 3dl and it looks great. Shall be doing some retexturing next.
^Yay - I'd love to see what you make of it :)
Lockdown
Added some extra props.
^Great render, thanks for sharing :)
I like the attention to detail with the messier floor, some shutters down and the bookshop door sign changed round to 'Closed'.
(I started this set before all the lockdowns - I only imagined it being 'Closed' in the evenings but figured I should include the shutters and signs anyway)
Well done!
Thank you both!
