Hair - Fur - How do I?

I have an item of clothing and I have made a transmap for it to give it a jagged look.. see the images

I want to add fur to the clothing which is an easy part, but how do I apply the fur to only the part that is visible and not the transmapped parts?

I can't find anywhere to add a map for the clothing fur....

thanks anyone

    Couple of options might work

in the hair domains tool, use select by

    1) you can create a shading domain where you want the fur
    2) you can load a texture map (uv based) for the distribution of fur
    3) you can use the green paint tool to paint where you want the fur

Holly has a fur tutorial if we can track it down. My guess would be that it is at carraracafe.

On second thought, you are probably going to do what you want to do in the hair shader room. Use a similar texture map for the density in the shader that matches your alpha setting.

Stezza, I never thought to use transmap to make jagged edges.... will have to try that as it will be useful for me!! Thanks!

Holly, I need to visit your site as you have so much information that is easy to understand. Whether or not I can execute it is another matter, but will keep trying to add to my learning curve. Thank you!
