If you go to the gallery and browse the most popular images of all time, you will see that many (if not most) of the top scoring images are made with V4! Isnt that a bit strange? :-)

Seems that all the advantages of the newer generations (V5, V6) do not count that much for creating great and impressive renders.
V4 is an oldie, but still a goldie :-)

More than likely, a lot of those images were created before the DAZ|Studio 4.x versions came out, so Genesis 1 or 2, V5 or V6 weren't yet available.

I have Genesis 1/V5/M5, but still use the generation 4 characters more often in my renders. Everyone has their own preferences, but I don't think great renders depend on a specific character being used, it depends on the overall scene, lighting, PoV and story being told, whether it was created with generation 4, Genesis 1 or Genesis 2 characters.

It may also be that many of the best artists have been working in 3D for a long time, so they developed their skills using the 4th generation and earlier figures. And V4 was the preeminent figure for over 6 years.

    There's also a render using Victoria 3: http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/5780

The fact that people can make stunning images with older content doesn't detract from newer content. We've always tried to delivered the best assets possible.

The sheer amount of stuff available for V4/M4 (and, sadly, still not updated for G1/2 compatibility) will tend to skew the results of popularity. :)

Same thing applies to Genesis 1 versus Genesis 2 renders, themselves: More simply exists, clothing-wise (and especially geo-grafting-wise), for G1 than G 2. If I come up with a particular artistic idea, I'll be more likely to find relevant stuff to make it in my Genesis 1 inventory than my Genesis 2 one.
