Anybody have idea as to what's going on with some of the product pages? I'll visit a product page of interest, click on one of the promo images and then Chrome displays it's translation tool bar asking if I want to translate the page from Russian to English. Or I've also had a new tab pop up for some random Russian website. I've done a virus scan and it comes up clean. I'm on a Mac OS 10.6.4 using Protection Anti-Virus with latest definitions. I've contacted Google Chrome support and they're clueless as to what's causing this. Is there anyone else having this issue???

Sounds like malware. Have you completely cleared out all your cache and cookies. I'd remove the toolbar which could also be causing it

Cleared the cache & cookies and it still persists. Any idea what type of malware it might be? I tried googling it and couldnt find anything relevant. All I found had to do with htaccess which has nothing to do with my side of things.

I would say you have been infected by a Russian Virus, run some good AV and remove.

I've run Protection Anti-Virus, which is of for Mac. I have the latest updates for it. What other program do you suggest I run?

This seems to be the Mac equivalent of MalwareBytes, which is what we tend to recommend that PC users run to find stuff like this

http://www.antimalwaremac.com/ Seems there is a free version.

And this is another highly recommended one, which comes with a free trial http://www.malwarebytesmac.org/

Hm, first of all, use another browser like Safari to see, then I would recommend checking what plugins you have to Crome.

Looks like your Anti Virus is a good one, at least if updated.

CAn be that chrome think you are running Russian, a corrupt Plist-file or something.

Where might I find the plist file so that I can verify what it says?

And thanks for the links, Chohole. I'll check those out and see if that helps.

In ~/Library/Preferences (where ~means your home directory)

    Probably named com.google.chrome.plist

move it to desktop and start chrome and see if it helps

(I don't use chrome at all as it has some very odd quirks now and then)
