Pleasantly Surprised

I've purchased a ton of items lately. I've only been deeply disappointed with one of them and most are like "oh ok that's nice". The one I did a render of here was more of a pleasant surprise. I didn't go into it with much hope.

I did change the lighting from default. I kept the "Sun" but used my own Uber settings (good or bad) and I changed the carpet. The default just wasn't working for me. Still needs some work but was pleasantly pleased out of the box.

How about you? Have you been pleasantly surprised and pleased with a purchase lately?

I have that one too! I really, really like that one.

    This one is: http://www.daz3d.com/in-bed

I buy a lot of houses, apartments, bedrooms, places, etc. I want to try making stuff of my own. I just haven't done it yet.

nice render though lowering the Occlusion strength might have worked better. See the wall lamps and pillows, you can see the AO is very strong, stronger than it would be with that amount of light. Apart from that a nice improvement over the promos.

I bought this yesterday during the flash sale. I didn't buy it when it first came out because I was afraid I couldn't get a render to look as good as the promo images, but it rendered very well "out of the box". I played with some volume lighting last night and was very pleased!

I got the Church package a while ago and ended up not using it too much. It's a great set to have for someone who does a lot of medieval renders, though so it's not a bad thing. The thing that made is a really pleasant surprise was the "Daylight" light preset it comes with. It's by far my favorite preset and use it in almost every render.

Thanks. I suck at lighting but try. I started out with about 85% AO. As far as the amount of light, it's funny. My renders always seem so dark so I crank it up. Well yesterday I found out that my TV (I use as a monitor cuz I'm getting old and can't see) is on energy saver mode so is naturally dark and it gets dimmer and brighter based upon the light around it and because my eyes are so light sensitive anyway (my family is that way. When my nephew was in the hospital the nurses called him cave boy.) I keep the lights mostly off.

Sooooo....I found out how to change the setting and I changed it to medium. Now the screen isn't so dark so I will see how that effects my renders. I did render using the default light and it was too dark and gloomy for me for that angle so I wanted it to be more bright and cheery.

I just wish this lighting stuff would click and how to make changes. I usually use presets that I've found from researching.

I saw that one. I don't have. I don't usually do any type of dark or gothic type renders but who knows. I do like the movie series the crow and I occasionally watch vamp and were movies so who knows. And best of all it's a place! I usually go for places.

I have the church also and like you I haven't used it much. I'll have to check on the lighting presets. I mix and match stuff all the time and lighting is one of my bigger issues.

This is the church one I purchased. I do really like. I've done a few renders with it but not many.

I tend to lean toward ADDism so I am all over the place and my tastes can flip on a dime.
