Stonemasons "The Ministry" - anything similar available?

Hello!

Stonemasons "The Ministry" ( http://www.daz3d.com/the-ministry ) is my absolute favourite prop because it is:

- high quality
- easy to use
- easy to light
- suitable for any kind of scenes (horror, gothic, modern, even fantasy, pin ups, battles, moody, and so on)

The only "problem" is that - for the sake of variety - I dont want to render all my scenes in the same environment :-)
So I am looking for similar props with the same quality and the same variety in useage. I have looked around in the store for a while, but could not find anything that was really satisfying.

So, can anyone suggest me some props as described above? I would be happy for any kind of help. Thank you!

Keeping an eye on this to see what others suggest, cos I'd like to know too. The Ministry is my #1 All Time Favourite Prop EVER, so would love to find something similar....I like how it's "small" and not a massive prop that I have to try and unparent and remove most things. ;D

Yep, I keep coming back to it again and again for the reasons you mentioned.

You should try Stonemason's… well, anything.

Faded Industry is another favorite that I sometimes combine as an exit from Ministry into Faded Industry.
Great lighting opportunities with the skylights and barn doors, plus like a warehouse the vast emptiness makes a great stage to fill it with stuff.
And it has a second level.

The tile floor in Ministry seems to be the key to open so many genres as stated.
Isn't it Jack Tomalin that is doing a hospital/asylum series? Probably some tiled floors in there too.

Stonemason just released a Sci-fi corridor kit but when you take into account his prop/sets can be taken apart they are all kits to some degree.
He made me realize that himself when asked where a certain sidewalk/road came from that was used in the Greeble PR.
Turns out it was just one of the other set pieces with the road extracted.

So I guess what I'm saying is you may already own your alt/Ministry.

actually that's a point - Jack's West Park series is pretty awesome too! There's a grungy/dingy/old texures and there are "clean" ones too. And they are smallish sets so easily used and loaded, and good to use for different genres.

I've got Faded Industry but I think I've only used it once....I can't remember. There's just something about that Ministry set that I love so much.

When it comes to a Stonemason set, you really cant go wrong with anything. But here are a few I use, which to me, are some of his BEST and MUST-HAVE sets assuming you're interested in a modern themed set like The Ministry:
    The Backstreets
    Faded Industry
    Tin Pan Alley

Keep in mind also, Tin Pan Alley, and The Backstreets both come in a bundle. Quiet Street with Tin Pan Alley and City Courtyard with The Backstreets. They're an excellent buy if you might be interested in those sets as well.

Those are my recommendations. Good Luck!

    I really like The Arc

It's sci-fi, but it has a lot of good angles and places to put light sources.

I also like to use Dark Rites and all of Jack Tomalin's stuff is great.

What I especially like about The Ministry is the roof. In many other lovely sets the roof is solid but in The Ministry it is possible to create all kinds of creepy effects just by using this regular shadow.

I think some of Jacks sets would work well with the ministry, especially the ones with the grungy chequered floor tiles which tie in well with the flooring in the ministry

It's funny that you picked that set because it's Faded Industry with a checkerboard floor, imo. lol
(and then I realized who made that comment and it got even funnier)

...definitely agree with Backstreets and Tin Pan Alley, probably my two most used sets.

Another good collection are his "Dark Places" sets which also come in a bundle or can be purchased separately. Excellent when you need a gritty location for a smaller scene.

D&M have some similar stuff too, however more on the steampunk side than the industrial, look for sets with the word "Time" in.

And then there is this new addition to the GIS series http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/forlorn-gis-nova Can't tell how much I'd love to see more of these.

Stonemanson's Tincan and SciFi corridor are awesome sceneries too.

It depends on what you're after, of course. Personally, my most used Stonemason set is probably 'The Enchanted Forest'. It's amazing. And the render times keep me away from the computer for an entire day, yay!
