Hi everyone, is there a way to over layer a 3d model after you have rendered it into a clip as I'm trying to get one of my Dinosaur models to go behind me in the clip and not infront?
Does anybody know what to do with this issue?
I use sony vegas 11.0 platinum for the model animation to go on the clips.

If you render to an image sequence, rather than to a finished animation file, and choose PNG as the image format you will get an alpha channel/transparency to isolate the objects (as long as there's no background prop in your scene). However, to put soemthing behind yourself in a video you would need to be able to float yourself to a new layer so that you ended up:
You, and any other foreground elements, with a transparent background
Dinosaur, with a transparent background
Rest of the frame.
Dong that would be a function of your video editor.
I always use image sequence and render out as a png format.
Would masking the Dinosaur or me work for the Dinosaur to go infront of me?
Would you like a screenshot of what I'm talking about?
Your Dino layer goes to the BACK or Base layer, the Figure layer then goes OVER or above that layer. It is that simple.
For this to Work properly both files must be the same Render size.
Will this work in vegas 11 platinum or does it have to be the pro version?
Any chance of an example screenshot as I learn better by images.

I do not use the Same Editing tool but one that supports the feature of Green Scene or in this case Layers. All I need to do is have my Clips with the PNG alpha layer loaded in the proper order. The First loaded is behind the next layer loaded. I can even change the order of them if I wish. You may need to read the Dox to the Editor you are using to see if the feature is even supported or not.
Don't know how Vegas works and what for capability it has but anyway what you want to do should be the same in any Video editing software : you have to edit ALL your images in order to create layer masks to hide the parts that are to be hidden by the foreground
Lots of work
Ok chears for the info and help I'll give that a try.
