Content Management Service lost all categories and doesn't re-install

ChromaDrakeChromaDrake Posts: 288

My custom Content Library categories just decided to disappear this morning. I found DAZ Content Manager was not running although it usually started up fine but even after I started it again nothing happened (and I needed to go through some hoops just to make CMS start running) I tried Re-Importing data and DAZ says it is re-importing UserData but it stops after a few seconds when my custom categories usually take minutes to load.

All of the advice I found on the forum say to try to deleted CMS and DAZ and re-install as a first step. I deleted CMS then DAZ then re-installed DAZ with DIM but the DIM is not installing the CMS although it installs DAZ. How do I re-install the CMS?

I would be seriously freaking out right now but fortunately I made multiple backups of my Userdata_1 file.

There should be an installer for the CMS in C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ 3D\DAZ3DIM1\cms

Thank you! But it's still not working :(

Rather I should say I did re-install the CMS but it still does not import meta-data and it won't even let me create any new custom categories as a test.

Should the next step I take to be to delete the databases/files in the C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D\Content Management Services\databases folder? Then open DAZ and re-import the UserData? (I read this on another thread).

Just another note, I have installed the DAZ program (and all my content) on my D:drive while the CMS is on C:. I think I have my directories set properly since I see my uncategorized content in the Content Library tab under the appropriate DAZ and Poser format - My DAZ Libraries. I don't see any of my custom categories and nothing in the Smart Content. Should I have installed the DAZ program itself on the C: drive or is it good on the D:?

Your fine, my DAZ Studio, CMS and DIM are all on C: My content is on D:, but D for DAZ is fine as well. The DB file is now your right option. When all else has been tried that is often the reason for the CMS errors and Failure to even run. Clear the DB folder and start fresh.

Make sure DS is closed and the CMS is stopped before deleting the database files then restart CMS.

In the Future all you need is to delete the Database files and then Check if the CMS is running, A Re-Boot will do that if need to. Then Re-Imoprt your MetaData. Un-Installing and Installing is not a Fix for database errors.
