PixelPiper renders ...

This is my second DAZ render. I'll put up the first one in another post. I'm still getting used to the tools. The biggest hurdle for me is to take all the various objects from different vendors and try and blend them in the scene and make it look like they came from the same colour pallett. Each vendor uses their own colour scheme and when put together as-is, it's jarring to my eye. There's only two things that can be done to harmonize the colours across the scene. One way is to get into the diffuse channels of the various objects and re-colour each one. The other way is to blend the entire scene in post production using a sepia 'wash' and then blending the original back in. That's what I do mostly. Another part of my post work is to 'distress' the scene using finely tuned custom grayscale maps. I lose some detail but it makes the objects seem like they came from the same vendor sort-of. As for lighting, rarely do I use more than one light and it's usually the spot and/or point light. I always start with a black viewport and simply light up what I want to see. Anyway, the DAZ content out of the box is awesome. If I'm being too chatty, let me know.

Very nicely done. Why don't you change the title of this one to something along the lines of PixelPiper Render Thread. This way they are all in one place and your not starting new threads all the time.

Here's the very first DAZ render I did the other day. The program tools to manipulate body parts are intuitive and easily accessible but posing actors in 3D space is still a tedious chore for me. I can truly understand why preset poses are so popular. I usually start with those then modify as needed like most do here. It took me a few hours to hunt down the expression presets. I must have clicked a thousand body parts and panels before I got it. Live and learn. It's only hard for the first 80 years.

@ Frank0314 ... oops, I guess it's too late. Thanks for the tip.

@ awesomefb ... Thanks for the kind words.

I don't stock many females in my libraries because they're all very beautiful and look somewhat the same. I have Vic5 and with a few spins of the morph dials and a slight adjustment of the skin colour ... presto, new female. But I was browsing the new releases the other day and I fell in love with Calais. That pointy, elfin face and waxy pale skin made the hair on my arms stand up. For me, this is the epitome of ethereal figures. So, there you go. Into the basket she went and onto my scenes. Maybe if I ask politely, she'll go for a beer with me. Meanwhile, she's an ogre groupie and a bird lover in the moonlight.

I just can't get enough of those DAZ monsters. Exquisite, this Skull Crusher. Just a spot and two point lights coloured to match the background. Took a long time to get the expression right. It's hard when the mouth is full of teeth and the character is designed to be fearsome. Anyway, I think I got it. Took about twenty minutes to render at 0.10. One of the longer ones. Just need enough detail to get through the post work in Photoshop. OK, so here it is ...
