Where are the birds?

I don't want to ruffle any feathers, but I admit being underwhlemed by the availability of modern, high-quality bird models and various species here at Daz 3D. Of course, we have the venerable and excellent Noggin selections which we've enjoyed for many, many years now. The eagle is great. Noggin's crow is good, and the cockatoo and owls are surperb. But these are dated now and from another era. I have bought them alll and still use them!  That said, the store contains multiple examples of all kinds of refreshed and updated animals, but there is a remarkable lack of birds. For instance, I would pay good money pick up a high-quality raven, or sparrows, or even pigeons and parrots. The same quality as Alessandro AM puts out, for example. I could go elsewhere, of course, but I would prefer to remain within the DAZ and Iray environment, for quality and convenience. Perhaps it's a product niche that could be explored.

A lot of the models for birds out there are older.

As much as I want a peacock model, I can't bring myself to pay $20 for a model this aged https://daz3d.com/catalog/product/view/id/1068

I really hope we see updates to bird models soon.

  • I'm afraid Hivewire3d is our best and only choice for a variety of bird models. Good news is a lot of their products have received daz3d iray updates. What I don't like is having to purchase a bunch of exotic bird species and props I'll never use just to get a single scarlet macaw... I really wish Noggin's macaw was still available at daz3d.

You are severely limiting your creativilty and honestly you'll be waiting a long time for some products if you limit yourself to DAZ only. In addition to making my own, there are at least 10 other places I purchase 3D mesh for use in DS

    OMG

  • After months of work I've elaborated an application, for internal use, that allows me to "feather" models with the workflow I want. You can expect lot of birds coming out, as time allows...

I hear what you're saying. I do buy from other sources. I was im[ply expressing a transactional preference. I've purchased from Hivewire and others and I am very happy with those products, again for convenience. I  was communicating a product suggestion here at DAZ,  the very topic of this disucssion forum. Thanks all!
