Rigging and Weight Mapping
I seem to have a problem with bones not manipulating the mesh of an object. I been through tutorials and YouTube videos but do not get the same results. Here is what I do:
Model of SCAR H assault rifle created in 3ds Max 2013 64bit. Model is made up 7 objects.
1. I export the model as an .obj from Max using the default preset for DAZ Studio.
2. Within Daz, I open the Figure Setup and add the geometry to the Geometry List then drag it over to the Relationships pane.
3. I create the parent child relationships. For Example, the stock is two pieces, the first hinges from the trigger housing and the second telescopes into the first. Trigger Housing -> First Stock ->Second Stock.
4. I set the Axis then Select Weight Maps.
5. Created asTriAx Weighted figure.
5. With the Joint Editor, I manipulate the bones to work with the model. The hinged stock is angled, so when rotated, it rotates at a slight angle.
6. Memorize the Figure Rigging.
7. When I use the Weight Map Brush, I select by Surfaces and apply 100%. At first I assigned the selection to just the axis that I would need but then tried to assign to all axis as well as scale. same result.
8. What I have is a rigged rifle that has been weight mapped but if I select the hinged stock, none of the Transforms work.
I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am obviously skipping a step.

Nothing is leaping out at me as an issue.Exactly which version of DS are you suing? Please post a screenshot showing the Tool Settings pane and the model with the bone that's meant to move selected and the Node Weight Brush Tool active.
For the last pic, weight map brush, the pieces are rigid so I select by face groups and fill the entire face 100%
