I like your work- but frankly, would people who wear braces want a lot of color to call attention to the braces? While some could use it as a fashion statement, I'm puzzled why there aren't any light silver which is the most realistic? (Braces are medium gray/steel looking) The closest you have is a light lilac.
I think that's why Basis was asking about a good 'metal' shader with 'Merchant Resource whatever' a few posts back. I understand the request tho, not everyone has the 'cute colors' on there braces.
I had just come across some one recently, when I was looking for a good reference for posing figures... (digs deep int my browser history)... I'll get back to you on that. I don't remember what she had for braces. Errr, there you are, not the best screen-cap, tho probably a good example of what resolution most renders will be done of them.
And that kind of dose lead back to the other discussion, a HD mouth texture set. I don't have one for G2F, most are under 4096x4096 for the entire map, and the parts of the mouth are much smaller areas on the maps. Like the lips for example, there less the a thousand pixels across on some face maps (about 575 pixels), smaller on others. I think that was part of the drive to go to UDIM mapping, to allow for finer detail sub-zone maps or something. So when you try to do renders with far higher res then the maps have, you get that almost cartoon-ish look, lol.
lol, even switching to 1080p isn't all that good, lol. Limits of the technology I guess, lol.

Yes, they Do, specially people who didn't need braces but uses it only for fashion. A friend of my family, who had perfect teeth and few money(= no dentist) pay for false full color braces added with... super glue, only for fashion
. Of course, you can imagine which is the only method to remove pieces of metal added to teeth with super glue :s
I had been fiddling with a metal texture that looked like brass, kind of a way to force contrast while giving a slight steam punk appearence.
Also, the colors shown are faux colors. Right now I only have the basic grey. I'm currently using the in program shading to change the colors so they do look darker then when I get around to adjusting the colors in Photoshop.
Is this still being worked on? 'Cause this is still the best looking set of braces I've seen.
Seems unlikely after nearly two years, and I can't recall seeing any recent forum posts by the author.
