Texturing Eyes

So I want to make an eye texture. I have no problem with the irises, but the sciera, lacrimal, and cornea have me a little losti.

I'm visually impaired, but I know for a fact they aren't simply solid colors. So, I want to know how i can achieve the right look. Can you get the squiggly lines on the sciera with just filters?

There are some filter for Filter Forge.. http://www.filterforge.com/filters/8498.html as far as regular filters probably would be very difficult if not near impossible.

Great! Here's a nice one Rawn made http://www.filterforge.com/filters/2396.html

It's really easy to use premade filters like that.

I assume by your post that you want to remove the red backing that is included in sclera only preset created using Iridology 2.0 by Rawn (RawArt)

If you have the pro version of Filter Forge, you can easily edit the filter to remove the red frame effect. If you don't have the pro version, I'd suggest contacting the filter author and making a request. There is an email link provided beneath each filter download link so you can contact the filter's author.

Anyway, if you have the pro version and want just the squiggly lines without the red backing...quick and dirty way is to just disconnect the background input leading into cells. Remember to save the filter with a new name so you don't mess up your original filter.

*Note: I selected the preset with sclera surrounded by red frame before opening filter editor. First, image is how filter looks when opened. second image shows input disconnected.

I do have the pro version and disconnected fthe background ingput. Thanks.

Can you set it up to apply only to a selection? If I make a selection in the corner, it' like a cookie cuter -- only the corner of the preset image is there.

Or maybe I need to think outside the box. c I want to fit it on G1's ceye texture.

I'm assuming you are using an image editor that supports layers and are attempting to apply the texture to a set of seam guides.

    1) Open seam guide in PS or whatever layered image editor you have.
    2) If necessary change the guide's mode to RGB. (I have snow sultan's set and it is in indexed so to add layers the image mode needs to be changed.
3)Use selection tool to select the scleras on the seam guide.
4)Add a new layer. (Note: Selection is active...and click on that layer to target it.)
    5) Hit that layer with the Filter Forge Filter.

Edit: You'll probably want to add a layer over your scleras then add some coloring or shadowing circling around the sclera. Take a look at some the character textures eye texture files you have and I think you'll see what I mean.

Note: Another approach is to just make a seamless tile; use the tile as a pattern.

    Lacrimals repeat process

For iris/pupils, don't do a selection just apply the iris onto a blank layer. Duplicate the iris/pupil layer. Link these layers so you can move and size them together. Size these layers on one of the template guides iris/pupil slots. When happy, unlink these two layers and slide second iris/template into second iris/pupil template slot.
