RIP HR Giger...

A truly great visionary, whether you felt utterly inspired or creeped out by his work, I think that everyone can agree he was a legend in the artistic world. While he was primarily known for images of biomechanoids and dark psychosexuality (both elements which went into his most famous creation; the creature from the 'Alien' films), he was noted by those who knew him as a pleasant, if quirky, soul and his work is going to remain a strong influence for a very long time to come.

Does anyone have plans to produce something Giger-esque for the store, as a form of tribute to his passing away? Creatures, shaders, sets, vehicles, furniture?

Or even have 3D renders you've done which were inspired by his unique aesthetics?

I've loved Giger for a long time. I'd have my walls covered in his art if I could.

I vote Rawart update his Gigaliens + parts & poses. :D

This is sad news. I've been a fan of his art since ELP's Brain Salad Surgery album.

I agree, said news. I loved his BioMech stuff, and his vision was truly one of his own from the start.

Truly a great loss, I was a big fan.One of my earliest true influences in the art world.

Here's a few Giger flavoured things of mine, a Gigeresque render and some shots of his Studio in Switzerland.

I'd be lying if I said he didn't inspire the Creation Engineer, I did do a similar chair for promo purposes, maybe I'll do something with it. Anyway the man was a genius and will be missed !

Truly sad news. I too am a fan of his work. I also liked his beliefs .... a little dark but I embrace my dark side quite easily!

Imitation is famously said to be the sincerest form of flattery. Giger's aliens influenced almost every monster from outer space movie made since the Ridley Scott classic. The only exceptions that I can think of are the Predator movies and the John Carpenter version of The Thing.

    He will be missed.

    Alex.
