So about 5 minutes after i sat down at the computer to work today, the power went out and remained out most of the day. So what do I do when I can't do 3D computer art..... oh something like this.....

Not bad at all. Thanks for sharing.
Thanx, its the first hand drawing i have done since October. Every now and then i like to get the drawing tools out and make sure i can still do what i used to do.
I think I am going to pop this into Manga Studio to add some color, i will post that version when i have it done.
The Mute-Ant from This Island Earth is one of my favorite classic aliens. Eventually what I hope to do is model a conforming costume for M4 based off this alien.
Oh that would make a great alien for M4. Nicely done sir!
i have a long way to go before i get to that point, still learning basic modeling. But my thinking was that the old classic aliens were just guys in rubber suits, so why not create a conforming rubber suit alien? kind of attacking creature creation the same way it is actually done in the movies
This Island Earth is one of my favorite sci-fi films. I already made a Metaluna head morph for M4, someone Ptrope made an interocitor, so i figure all that is really left is the Saucer and the Mute-ant creature
I had to go to IMDB to check that movie out. I don't remember it from "back in my youth".
its a classic, its right up there with Day the Earth Stood Still, War of the Worlds and Forbidden Planet.
Co-starring Russell Johnson (the Professor from Gilligan's Island). :)
whoa, as many times as i have watched that movie i never even recognized him. I think the trouble is all of his scenes were with Faith Domergue, so i was a tad distracted
I like what you do with no power. I just can not work with my hands anymore or sketching would be my pastime as well. I now read books or just wander around wishing I had a generator to power my PC with.
I also like the Rubber Suit monster figure Idea. That really sounds like it could have promise. For the off screen wires that used to be used for puppeteer controls you can now just include morphs in the suit.
yeah i have been thinking of the "suit" idea for a few different creatures. I'm really a retro sci-fi horror fan and in all the old movies that is how the creatures were done. Also i figure it would be kool for doing film set renders, you can do that shot of in between takes where the stunt man takes the mask off and takes a coffee break. If i were shooting a movie with live actors the way i would do a creature is to start gluing rubber to an actor, so when i start making creatures for 3D my thinking kind of follows the same line
Wouldn't work for me. I use electric pencils. :-(
That in itself wouldn't be too bad, but after a while in the dark my electric toilet is sorely missed. (in both senses of the word "missed") 8-o
