Can you use V4/M4 model clothing on Genesis 1 and 2 figures?

Can it be done? is it easy to take an item of clothing meant for a V4 model for example and fit it onto a Genesis 1 or 2 figure?

Autofit is your friend here :). The majority of Generation 4 clothes autofit to non-extreme shapes for Genesis without any need of adjustments. Fitting male clothes onto women may cause some strange stretches in the breast area, but nothing you cannot fix. Shoes are slightly picky, but you can always move them, apply some smoothing modifier and such. You only have to choose the clothing type that fits the description best and wait. Long gowns may be a problem when posing (pokethrough). You can either use the built-in morphs and move it around or apply smoothing, it depends on a situation. Monsters and kids can use Generation 4 stuff too, although extreme shapes may be a bit problematic (see the solutions above and all "fixing pokethrough" tutorials).

Gen2F and Gen2M should technically autofit too, but their abilities in this place are somehow limited (see the compatibility diagram). It is also because of the lack of support for Generation 3 shapes. With Genesis, buying a certain shape from a previous generation (for instance A3 and H3 shapes) adds another specialised transfer type, resulting in a better fit.

You will need to have the V4 / M4 shapes for Genesis 1 and 2 for better fitting of the clothing.. Shoes are more problematic but here is a tut on fitting V4 shoes to G2F http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/art/A-Reminder-on-Autofitting-Shoes-to-Genesis-2-412985230 should apply to Genesis 1 as well..

There are Gen 3 shapes for Genesis 1 that do a pretty good job of fitting V3 / M3 clothing to Genesis 1.. Once you have fitted the clothing using Autofit Victoria 3 option and so on to Genesis 1 adding smoothing modifier if needed select each piece of clothing in the scene tab and do a Save As / Support Assets / Figure & Prop asset, give it a name you will remember. another box will open with other settings do what ya have to in there and save it...

Don't forget what you called it for an easier search later on if it is done properly the converted clothing should then show up as having wardrobe over the icon, and you can then fit the converted V3 / Genesis 1 clothing to G2F (not tried on G2M yet) by using autofit and selecting the Genesis 1 option..

One thing some V3 clothing will not work to well and will require conversion to Victoria 4 then to Genesis 1 and so on and Victoria 3 shoes do not convert well unless have the right software to do it..

The pic below is of BatLabs PVC Gear Type B for Victoria 3 fitted to Genesis 2 Female by doing as above..
