Halloween Party costumes.

How about costumes that do NOT look like the real thing. For example, there are a number of realistic looking pirate costumes, cowboy costumes, etc.; but how about a costume that looks like it is a costume -- something that you would wear to a costume party.
I'm also thinking about sci-fi costumes from the 1950's that look fake --> https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/512cQstX3ML._AC_.jpg

the simplest way I can think of to do that is place the texture of a tshirt and pants in the background and render some "realistic" outfits layed over them posed to match to give a printed on look to the new texture set
I was thinking more along the lines where the boots look fake or the sword looks like a prop instead of a real sword.
Have you thought about using alternate shaders or tinkering with textures? An iron/steel sword can be made to look plastic by changing the material type from metal to plastic. Combined with kitbashing, you might be able to assemble party costumes with assets you already own.
I don't want to get into the habit of making suggestions along the lines of "I know of a failed attempt at a costume for sale, and it's . . ."

I thought a high proportion of the clothing in the store was along the lines of "Sexy <job description>"
For Sci-fi search for 'retro' and there are some nice items
For halloween costumes, at least half of the content in daz store would work. Costumes tend to be sexy and impractical, and that describes a large chunk of daz store outfits.
Just to add to the ideas, the Genesis 8 Pro Bundles, that had themed content, would be a great source. The older characters came out with some interesting outfits that a child might wear, or might be jazzed up for older kids/teens/young adults with shaders, different shoes. And of course, the tee shirt, jeans, or shorts underneath depending on where in the country you are in. And if you are in the Rocky Mountains and there is a blizzard, 5F, extreme shorts and a tee with flip flops might be seen with a cape.
Or think of going to Goodwill and creating a costume from second-hand clothes, fedora, overcoat, suit - detective; pretty dress, shoes, gloves, jewerly - princess. Sports stuff - jock. Masks are available. Shaders.
Hexagon, Blender, create a bag covering to drape over the kid with a cut-out holes for the head and arms.
you mean like masks that look like rubber masks or plastic masks like when we were kids those born in the 70/80s and earlier. Also old school movie monster/alien costumes like in the movies from the 50s

@ANGELREAPER1972, Exactly. Those morphing masks, Genesis has https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-supersuit which has so many add-ons. I moved it forward to G8 with the RSSY converters and it did okay. But there are similar outfits in G2 and G3 wardrobes.
