And purchased!
Thank you all! Please post renders!
Since you asked.
Sweet! Thank you!
I recently purchased "Lightning Maker" from DAZ which looks like a great special effects application that can produce many different lightning effects. However, after repeatedly trying to get this tool to work, I am obviously missing something. The bottom line... No Lightning. According to the instructions, the user must first pick the starting and ending points of the lightning path. I've done this -many times- and also clicked on the selection of the type of lighting bolts, etc. Then you are supposed to "Start" the lightning program. That is the point where it all stops and I have tried clicking on everything. I don't see anything that says "This is how to start the Lightning Maker application." I am so stuck. Also, the instructions say something about using an item called a "Null." I haven't ever use "A Null" while working in DAZ Studio. What is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you having problems starting the script? The script is called Lightning Maker in Scripts\RiverSoft Art\Lightning Maker.
A Null is an empty container without any geometry; think of it as a placeholder that you can parent things to, so you can move or manipulate multiple objects together. You create a new Null either from the Create menu, or directly from the Toolbar (the icon looks like a hollow cube, not to be confused with the Make Group icon, which is a slightly different-looking hollow cube). In the Viewport, a Null looks like a plain 3-axis cross with red, green and blue bars.
Anyone know what this is about?
Created two nulls. Selected Both. Started script and got this error.

Sigh. It is some quirk of DS and usually shows up because of Daz Connect. The ChangeFileExt function is in the RS2020HelperFunctions.dse file so that is not the problem. For some reason, DS does not like pulling a function from a different product even if it is the same file though. You have the "2022My DAZ 3D Library" entry ealier in your Content Directory Manager so instead of finding the RS2020HelperFunctions.dse in "2018_Daz_DIM", it is finding it in your 2022 library (specifically in the "Character Converter from G2F to G8F" (67659) and then not working for some reason. Best case is to have all my products installed (by DIM or manually) to the same root directory so there is only one copy of every data file. You have divided things up by year so I am not sure for you. Even if you didn't have stuff installed by Daz Connect, it might still be a problem (at least with pre-2022 scripts. This year, I rewrote the DS FindFile function from scratch so it prioritizes files in the same subdirectory before looking all over the place. It should fix this problem). You could try changing the order in Content Directory Manager (which should work for this case but might break your 2022 cases) or uninstalling the Daz Connect versions of my products that get in the way.
