What's the best way to get a single steel beam (from The back fence)
Hello!
First I want to say that everything is fine with this product and everything is as expected.
Now to my question:
In the product is a group of steel beams and I want to isolate one of them to be able to use it as a single beam.
I imported the group (steel_beams.obj) into Hexagon, but I was not able to ungroup the single beams.
What I have done is to delete all unwanted surfaces until the last beam remained. Now I have my single beam and I can used it,
BUT ;-)
what still bugs me is that I could not find out a smarter way to select a signle beam in Hexagon. (I tried to ungroup (even several times), but that doesn't change anything).
So any hint what I have done wrong or why it doesn't worked as expected would be nice.
Thanks in advance.

Try selecting one polygon on the beam you want, then keep hitting shift plus the + key on the numeric pad to grow the selection until you have the whole of a beam selected, then copy and paste to a new item.
I know in my modeling app I can select by face or verts and delete. In this example I would select all the polygons and just hit delete and adjust the center point. Bring it back into Poser or DS and apply the material. Whats important is to keep all the materials intact. If you lose the materials then you will have to redo them
Thanks for your replies, I appreciate it.
The [SHIFT]+[+] is indeed a lot easier than selecting all faces with the mouse (so this will help the next time).
Regarding the materials: It seems that I have to redo them again.
Just in case: In the meantime I played a bit with Silo and there's a functionality with the name "Break" that does exactly what I was looking for in Hexagon. (After doing the Break I was able to select each beam as a single object).
Does anybody knows what's the equivalent command in Hexagon?
I use Silo as well. I just select by polygon by middle mouse held down and selection tool to remove them
