Expressions shoiuld be available as shape keys under the vertex tab. So go to Object mode, not Pose mode, and click on the green downward-pointing trianlge icon. There's a tab in there called shape keys. Dial up a shape key (or combination of shape keys for the expressions).
I've had mixed success with exporting poses and importing them with the tool. It basically works, but some joints aren't quite right, and in one case, the character flipped onto its side and rose 4' into the air when taking on the pose. As I see it, there are three paths for posing:
1. Pose in Daz and import that pose into Blender using this bridge.
2. Pose in Blender using the default bridge rig.
3. Pose in Blender using the converted rigify rig.
A fourth approach would be to drop the rig altogether and reg the mesh yourself, but that would be a lot of work, and for what? These three options seem to work reasonably well. I'm optimisitc that bugs will be addressed rapidly in the coming weeks. The weight painting and vertex groups support the exported rig, and with some more refinement and bug fixing, these paths will work great.
I think I might do a fair amount of posing in Daz, then export and import into Blender, as a preferred workflow, once the import is working well.
Thnak you. The expressions work! And if I uncheck "export only minimal morphs" there are all additional expressions in blender now.
But not all poses I load over the #get pose command are working. Some has no effect. also my own saved poses are not loaded into to blender. Is there another way to load poses? If I pose a figure in DAZ and load this posed figur to blender they are always in te zero pose.
... another question. Is it working to load animation sets?
I haven't gotten animation anything to pass over and have the same issues with poses not importing as you are. I actually sent tech a support ticket about that the weekend the bridge came out to let them know, never heard back but I'm sure they're innundated with tickets so it's not the end of the world, but hopefully they at least looked at it and are aware of it now.
Yes cool. I hope they will solve this bugs. This bridge is a good reason to buy DAZ content. ????
To me this is a beta-quality tool. That's not a dig. Just that it doesn't seem to have the level of reliability for a true release. (Catch me in a grumpy mood and I'll call it an Alpha since I think it's missing functionality altogether, like the ability to configure the shared directory used by the export-import handoff.) I do watch the Github repository, and at the time I'm writing this, it has been 16 days since the last commit, so I really hope to see an update commit before 30 days go by. If I had to buy it, I might be grumpy, but it's a freebie, so being a "tricked" into beta testing doesn't get me worked up.
But I want to also say clearly that the promise in what I've seen in tremendous. A couple of trips back and forth through a bugfix cycle and this thing will rock! And since it is being released through Daz, I can only hope that the developer is getting the benefit of access to the Daz gnomes to work through problems, instead of fumbling in the dark..
I hope to see the manual re-worked. Some elements are not clearly described, and the formatting is a clunky (there are two page "4"s and no page "3"!)
@stevejackhammer Honestly I don't know .. I mean at first I was thrilled as well about this bridge but the more I know it the more I see it doesn't fit. I mean it has design flaws, so it can't be fixed. First of all it's extremely slow and resource intensive for the way they choose to export files, that alone is enough to throw it away. Then the design is built around "customizations for a specific asset" that means it can't work for general purpose assets that's why it can only import G3 G8 figures.
I realy hope there will come many updates and it it's getting a useful tool. I want to render in Blender with this new eevee render engine for animations. And also in cycles. Blender will be my favorite render tool. At the moment i'm rendering with Poser also with G8 and G2 fugures. But Poser wil stop supporting G2 and G8.
Well, according to Daz's github page, it hasn't been updated at all since it was uploaded 2 weeks ago. Meanwhile, have a look at the commit history of the Diffeomorphic plugin:
https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/commits/
It's pretty impressive that one guy working for free in his spare time is more productive than Daz's paid developer(s)... Of course, to be fair, it's possible that Daz is working on their addon locally and will only update their Github repository on major releases. That would be a strange way of doing things, but it's possible.
You can load just one figure G8 figure at once into the scene? Loading a figure deletes and restets the current blender scene? ... slowly I think ist just a preview of an Alpha :-D ...But maybe there will come more. It's the right way for DAZ to make bridges to blender :-)
Thank you. I have installed the Differmorpgic import tool. Looks cool and it seams to work more harmonicly with Blender. I can import a Genesis figur without loosing the whole scene. I like it :-)
