Duplicate formula error

By startup of DAZ Studio 4.6 i get an error message about the excistance of duplicate formulas.
In the log file a number of these warnings appear:
WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5463): Duplicate formula found linking xOrigin & Value in /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Morphs/HellFishStudios/HFS Shapes/HFS_Shapes_Head01.dsf.
What can i do about this problem?
Can these problems cause Studio 4.6 to crash during rendering?

There is a solution for fixing these morphs here : http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/22220/
Look for a post by Bejaymac half way down.
This one here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/22220/#327900
@Jimmy if you look on each post there is a number at the top far right of the post, clicking it brings that post to the top of your browser and loads the URL to that post for direct linking.
Didn't know that, thanks Jeff. :)
OK, Thank you all for fast response, but i need some more details i am afraid.
I still don't understand a number of these steps ( I am new to DAZ studio)
1) load Genesis into an empty scene, you’ll get the error message, just click it to carry on.
Ok, done that.
2) find the offending morph(s) in the Parameters tab, in this case it Actor/Universal/Fantasy SciFi and it’s the HFS_Shapes_Head01 morph.
But with step 2 i am already lost.
How do i find the offending morphs?
Is ment: select "genesis" in the upper left button of the parameters tab?
do i then have to select the head?
3) Dial ?? the morph to make sure it works and then zero it again ???.
Where do i find this "dial"?
4) at one end of the dial you’ll see a little “cog”, click on it and in the little menu that opens click on Parameter settings.
5) in the new window that has just opened you will see a Color A & a Color B, click on Color B to open the color picker.
6) Set the color to 254, 254, 254 and click OK.
7) Click “Accept” at the bottom of the Parameter Settings window.
8) After that window closes go “File > Save As > Support Asset > Save Modified Assets”.
Your original message :
In the Parameters pane with either Genesis selected, go to Actor > Universal > Fantasy SciFi, and find the slider for that morph. The instructions are saying to try the morph to see that it works by moving the slider, once you have done that, zero the morph again by holding down the Alt key, and clicking on the slider with the Left Mouse Button to zero it again.
Does that help?
Hey Jimmy,
Thanks a lot, crystal clear!
This problem solved.
Thanks!!
But still crashes during rendering!
There are many reasons for render crashes, the most common one is running out of memory.
To check the log file, go to Help > Troubleshooting > View Log File, and look at the end of the previous session to see if there are any details about the crash.
Are you using the 32 bit or 64 bit version? Does it always crash, for example, can you load a genesis figure with some clothing and hair, and render that OK? Does it crash when you try rendering a large scene? If you are using the 32 bit version of DAZ Studio, it can only see 2GB on a 32 bit OS, or 4BG on a 64 bit system. If you are running a 64 bit OS, you are better to use the 64 bit version of DS, as it can see all of your memory, and you can usually render much larger scenes.
Hello Jimmy,
Seems to be a memory issue.
I am running Win Vista SP2 32 bit 7750 dual core 2,7 GHz and 4GB memory.
I have V6HD with some clothes and accesseries, background and lights.
Rendering made studio crash (dissapear.
After removing lights and background rendering was possible.
Adding background low resolution rendering went ok.
High resolution rendering made studio crash (dissapear) or showing a memory problem popup (see screen dump)
Is there a solution so that i can use Studio 4.6 to and render figures with props, background and lights on my system in lets say 2000 pixel resolution?
edit 2: can you try rendering the scene at 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 to see if the scene will render at all? Restart Daz Studio to clear the memory first.
I documented my adventures with using Daz Studio on 32 bit Windows XP. Without getting too technical: even though you have 4 GB of memory, Windows will only allow Daz Studio to use about 1.2 GB. You can monitor how much memory Studio is using with the task manager. If the peak mem usage approaches 1,150,000 KB, Daz Studio may not render the image.
Windows cannot allocate more memory to Daz Studio, the scene and render software. Suffice to say you can only create very small scenes under 32 bit windows. Sorry. I believe that high definition characters might require more memory than regular Victoria 6.
You could use a switch to force Windows to allocate more memory to Daz Studio but your computer might become unstable. My computer becomes unstable. I need to reboot the computer after I render a scene using the switch because my other programs or device drivers are not designed to run with the modified setting.
Daz 3D should put a notice saying "For best results, use a 64 bit computer with 8 GB of memory."
edit: uploaded the correct screenshot.
Hello Jimmy,
Thanks for the update!
This is a memory problem indeed.
Memory is running at 1.15 - 1.19
Rendering under about 1000 pixels is no problem with a simple scene
Above about a 1000 pixels Studio becomes unstable and freezes or crashes.
With a more complex scene (2 characters, lights props) even rendering at 600 x 600 pixels (wich does not give satisfactory quality pictures) makes Studio crash.
I was under the impression that memory allocation problems were solved since we left DOS behind.
I think DAZ should address this issue.
So for now i have to be satisfied with lower resolution rendering or buy a new computer.
Not happy!!!
If you read here http://www.daz3d.com/products/daz-studio/daz-studio-tech-specs XP is not even a supported OS version for a 32bit system. Vista is the lowest OS that DAZ Studio supports for proper operation of the 32 bit software.
With a 32bit Windows you can, if the motherboard allows it, install 4GB of RAM (32bit Windows will "see" only 3,5GB of it ... but so what)
Then you have to to the 3GB Switch
http://dwf.blogs.com/beyond_the_paper/2009/04/enabling-3gb-switch-on-windows-vista.html
and then use this free app
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/
on the DazStudio.exe
It helps - until you get a better computer.
Another thing is using Depth mapped shadows instead of raytraced (but you may hit the 3Delight Depthmapped shadows bug and get funky coloured dots ...).
Since the depth maps have to be stored somewhere using raytraced shadows and the smallest bucket size is more memory conservative.
Great, this works!!
Memory is running at about 1.3 MB instead of 1 MB.
Seems this makes a real diffrence, no crash or freeze during rendering!
Have tested it with a complicated scene @ 500 pixels.
Will try it later at more pixels.
I'll update later!
Thank you all!
Here is my update,
At first rendering seemed okay.
Now i have simple scene with posed Stephanie HD and Teen 6, clothing, a few props, nothing else (i have removed everything else from my first design):
Even rendering this bare scene at 150 x 150 pixels makes studio crash at wich my switched memory is peaking @ 1.55 MB
I am lost again!
Maybe i need an other hobby.
No, you need a 64 bit operating system and more memory in the computer. Unfortunately, old computers can only handle to 4 GB because the motherboard is so old.
What your not understanding is that EACH texture in your scene, Skin on a figure is often 10 or more textures, hair is often 10 or so, clothing used yet more textures, and the setting even more textures still, all take Ram just to load. Then your PC needs more Free ram at render time to Convert those textures to versions the Render engine can use, those take Ram and disk temp space, and then you still need more free Ram to hold the image that is getting built, especially if you are doing a render to Window.
You can try some scenes that are just Barely to big to render by doing Render to File. That will bypass one bit of needed Ram and maybe, I'm not saying it will just maybe, allow the render to finish. It will then be saved to the Place you selected when you did the File Name input, so be sure the Save To part of the Render Settings is set to a folder you can find easy and want renders saved to.

Hello,
I did render to file from the beginning.
I found out that writing to the C: disk gives less errors than saving to my third HD in my computer.
Furtermore the render capacity is somewhat unpredictable.
Sometimes a relative simple render crashes and sometimes i can render somewhat more complex renders without problem.
Althoug i have seen my memory peaking at 1.9 MB, I probably i need to save some bucks for a 64 bit computer if i want to enjoy Studio 4.6
Thanks for the info.
