I'm interested in opinions...

I worked on this for a while, playing with different ways of lighting it, and finally came up with this. I can't decide if I like the darker version or the not-so-darker version, although I realize that they're both pretty dark (and there's not a huge difference between them). I even walked away from it for several days thinking I would be able to make up my mind then but I'm still not sure. So I thought I would post both versions here and see if anyone had a preference. I'm also open to suggestions on how to improve the scene (lighting tips or other suggestions.)

While this is a night scene, I'd lighten it up a bit. I think even scenes in darkness should be lighted so that you recognize some details - the trick is in providing more contrast, that is in making the dark areas much darker, but having the lighted parts stand out better.

That said, I'd work on version #1, if I were you. A good start, in any case!

Thank you. I was trying to decide if it was too dark or not. I'll try to add more contrast and see what happens. :)

I played with the lights for a bit and I like the cornstalks in silhouette better - I think it makes the main figure stand out more. I'm still open to constructive criticism though. :)

hi, you have some reflection in the front and it looks like the only light source is the moon that is behind, so they are not logical.

Ah, thank you, sioc, good point. I will revisit that.

In the meantime, thanks to Holly Wetcircuit's wonderful, easy-to-follow, tutorial for adding fur to the Mil Cat in Carrara, I was able to make the Mil Dog fuzzy. Maybe not a work of art but I'm pretty proud of the way the fur turned out. :cheese: It's only my second time furrifying a model in Carrara so I think it's not too bad.

For the record, this was the first model I fuzzed - it was supposed to be a stuffed animal so I didn't worry too much about smoothing the fur.

No title, just an Easter picture. (Edit: The model is Quinn from rdna.)

The "something in the water" is quite fun- like we are the "something" staring up at them. Very clever!

    Thank you, Novica. :-)

I messed with the Scarecrow picture some more and then decided to call it good enough for now. The final version is posted on my DeviantART page if anyone is interested. (link is in my signature) I'll have to continue to practice night scenes because to me they are harder than day scenes. I'm working on a different furry project at the moment. I'll post it here when I get it done. Might take a while as I'm trying to finish a RRRR contest entry and I'm also not moving very fast today. :)
