sculpted lion mane / hair parts (tuft, tail, face hair) for daz big cat 2

i'm not sure if i can post this in 2 threads... point being, i don't care if my request is "answered" thru a new product or freebie / links to available pay/free items

i'm looking for existing or made for this request, free or pay: polygonal/sculpted lion mane + tufts/tail + face hair (also for tiger)

what i mean is exactly the contrary of the actual search for perfect, fluffy realistic hair,.
what i want is cartoonish, one piece hair that can be used on daz big cat 2, for statues for example. because the hair up to now is either transparency based sheets that absolutely don't resemble a sculpted mane once the transparency maps are gone, or single fibermesh/lamh/catalizer hair that won't work for a sculpture.
for people, there are a few "blockish" hair types, usually anime-style, that can be used for a human statue - but there are none for lions (nor tigers, who have beautiful face hair too).

what i did up to now was a pita search on the web for existing whole models of lion sculptures (including tons of objects that aren't free even they're on a free site, don't work properly or only after lotsa converting work etc) - but WHY do i have to download ready made statues by other artists when i have a perfect lion in my runtime that i can pose the way i want?

EDIT: added a pic of a similar hair but for humans, as an example

There used to be a file to extract just the mane from the P3/4 Lion, but it would then have to be parented and wriggled into position artificially.  I can't seem to find it where I thought it'd be, though.

hmm interesting. i actually have the poser lion, since i bought poser debut for 5$ and it's in the content (i bought debut more for the 2GB content that the app itself, i can't deal so well with the UI). i very rarely use those old models but occasionally they come in handy. i'll check that lion anyways, thx for pointing me ^^

EDIT: actually, this lion looks quite good for statues, thx @Eustace Scrubb. i just made a quick render with bronze-ish shader. there are no poses included in debut (they are for another lion) - but i just found a lion pack freebie with poses and mapping and stuff. so if my request never gets filled, adding iray shaders i might have a solution for my statues...

EDIT 2: yeah.. the "poses" was rather 1 pose, and this pack is xtra difficult to install, there's bits, pieces, requirements - all for a super old figure i'd only use for statues... took me 1 hr to pose this lion sitting. so, i'd be really happy to be able to use my daz big cat 2, SRSLY.

another possibility for a new product in that direction would be a new Sculptural Ultra Fun Kit like there is for genesis 1 and 8 (love those sets!) - but for animal figures instead of humans. using the latest "mainstream" animal figures like big cat 2, horse 2, or others that don't come to mind right now, especially when there's a difficulty to just add a stone etc shader to the figure because there's hair (i mean, a dolphin doesn't present a problem, just a shader does the trick...)

This is actually something I've thought a lot on, even though I do a lot with dForce Hair.

The big problem with a sculpted approach is distortion; getting bulky hair on a lion to not look like crazy putty in various poses is... difficult, and might even be impossible.

But I agree it'd be nice if someone worked it out

as an example, this is what would look similar but for humans: Waterfall Tails Stylized Hair

i loaded the hair and just resetted the material to base, this is what it looks like, and it's rigged. so what i imagine is sth similar for felines

Merged the posts from the freebie requests thread into this thread - we don't allow multiple threads/posts as it leads to duplication of effort as people reply to one post with information/questions already added to the other.

yeah, i thought duplicates were not the best idea... so how should i do with possible similar future requests, where i want to both propose an idea for a new shop product AND also invite people to create a freebie (or ask people if they've seen what i want as a freebie or pay product)?

a product to solidify transmapped hairs would also actually be good for those that do 3D printingenlightened

BTW the way I did it myself on a 3D human hair (for printing) was to add thickness in Carrara on an obj export, other modeling software would also do this and could work for a statue

Meshlab close holes comes to mind

    or

    Blender solidify modifier

exactly! unless you want this new 3d print "realistic" lion mane with fine hair that you can comb or sth (out of print looks like a round hairbrush around the lion's head, lmao...)

i tried to add push on transmapped hair sheets.. nope... they don't join or get thicker. and my experience with extruding stuff in 3d apps is limited to letters or simple flat-ish objects..

Just use Product Suggestions - people can then point out ways to do what you want with existing content, or if you are lucky take up the idea and build something.
