I'm moving along, I used the boolean to create the cut outs for the round shoulder joints. I'm going the retro model look with a grungy texture look, like it would really look like if they existed now.

I used the 3dpaint, but because I changed the boxes shape I had to unwrap the UV so I could get straight lines in my texture, which I fine tuned in photoshop, then a cool carbon texture as a bump map for teh look around the moniter scrren.

Look like something nice is coming :-)
I agree the main problem about 3d paint is that it needs good UVs.
I'm working on it, learning how to do it without too much pain. I thought I had the solution with roadkill, but it's very sensitive to poly count and is, most of the time, unusable. If I wan to use it, I have to learn to model saving polys as much s possible, which is not displacing the problem :-(.

Great progress Kashyyyk. You seem to be the only participant who is sharing a solid idea so far.

I am still doodling. I have changed my mind again, and am back to thinking about using the 3d paint tool. I remembered an example representing past hopes in a positive way, that to me is present nostalgia. I've used the bone rigging within carrara and the weightpainting tools for the pose.

For the 3D paint tool, I think it will be important to try to create clean uvmaps. Here is my first attempt to model and uvmap this figure. I then used the 3dpaint tool in the bump channel to try to mimic the folds on the character's torso. The phone is from the Carrara object browser in the communications tab.

It is a new start. Still not sure if I will be sticking with this idea.

Thanks, with another great sponsor, I feel they are just working hard on theirs. and will surprise us at the end.

Here is the last of my WIP images. I just have to pose and create the scene.

I have a solid idea, but not a lot of time to work on it. It's going to be one of those nail-biters as the deadline approaches.

OK, but it appears he gave an extra week for submissions too, so hopefully it gives everyone time to submit something!

Here my plant of cannabis carried out thanks to the Philemo's link for the leaves.
I used 3 kinds of leaves which I duplicated and to which I applied a modifier “Curve and torsion”.
Now, I would like to build characters musicians of the sixties and hippies…
I would like to try to make buckled hair (like African), is somebody could inform me to do that?
    Thank you.

Do you mean with Carrara's dynamic hair?

I think if you want to do the Woodstock era, you want the big afros? That's what I assume anyway. Here some hair on a hair cap. I didn't really style it, just added 16 joints to the hair and guide, changed it to large hairs and then did the rest with the hair shader.

I'll attach some images of the hair room settings and curl tool settings and also the hair shader settings. I may have to do this in a couple different posts.

Please keep in mind this is just a very basic attempt.

It is not so basic for somebody like me which doesn't control this domain at all !
I already will work with your parameters, a big thanks !

Sorry I didn't get my other post sooner, but I wanted to do a render with the hair and post a couple more screen shots.

If you still have trouble, I made the hair on a hair cap. If you need it, I can send you the file to study or use.

The little image showing the tools has the Curl tool in the center. The screen shot from my previous post that showed the tool settings was from that tool.

Here's the file. It's on a skull cap, so you may want to make that invisible. The hair will still show up.

it will be interesting to see everyones take on this .. ;-)

Lefty and everything! Have you ever seen the re-imagined version of Battlestar Gallactica? My wife and I hold to the theory that the entire moral of the story was that Jimi Hendrix is a Cylon! :ahhh:
    Awesome job, DUDU!

    HeadWax, That's very cool, man!

... but that was before a buddy of mine said that it was Bob Dylan, who wrote: "All along the Watchtower", so perhaps it was he, whom was the Cylon? Perhaps both? Hmmmm....

It really does have a nice hand-cut (with a torch) look to it. Very cool method used to make it. Impressive, my young Padowan!

It is nice you noticed that he was lefty !
I awaited the remark from somebody, but you knew it !
Jimi Hendrix was a kind of E.T in the pop music (thanks to the cannabis…) but a genius all the same !

Here's what I've got so far. Been UV mapping as I go. Since I suck at it, it is taking longer than I want.

And yes, I did UV the pillar before duplicating it. ;-)
