Save genesis as .obj ?

I have a scene idea that requires a large number of genesis and gen4 characters. Most will be in the exact same pose so I thought to save them as .obj to save memory.
In DS4pro (not 4.5) how do I go about doing this? What settings etc to create the most economical obj for import?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you use the same texture on each? If so, you should instance them.

    Select Genesis and then
Create > New > Node Instances

I've got 11 textured, identical genesis in my scene and it's only using 450mb of RAM.

Not sure how it's done in DS4Pro Flashback. Only 4.5 has instances Adamr001, how can we do the same in DS4Pro?

Oh right sorry, I saw 4.5 and went straight to instancing...

In 4Pro, you'll have to export them to wave front object, making sure to use base resolution.

It's an option on the parameters for Genesis:

    If there's a reason to move to 4.5 it's instancing though, I'm telling ya, that's where it's at! ;)

Give me Reality in 4.5 and it's on! The only plugin I must have, just have to have it.

Heh, yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens to instanced geometry when exported to Lux. ^_^

The material library (.mtl) that goes with the .obj is very basic, so if your using any fancy shaders (HSS, USS etc) then that info wont be saved in the .mtl
