If you're like me, you're forever trying to identify content used in promotional artwork. I know i'm not the only one who wishes all sellers would include one of those helpful lists of "Additional Products used in Promo Image". So, rather than spam the forums every time an item alludes me, I decided it might be a good idea to start a single topic where we can all help each other solve these little mysteries.

First case: The blurred building used in the background of the Olympian Heroine for Genesis 2 Females promo image? - http://www.daz3d.com/olympian-heroine-for-genesis-2-female-s
It says right under the promos what's used in it.
Ha! Off to a brilliant start... Boy, do I feel stupid. That was mistake, the Olympian Heroine was intend as an example of how it should be done. What I meant to ask about was the background used in the Simply Olympia Poses promo art - http://www.daz3d.com/simply-olympia-poses
Thanks, Vaskania.
I second your plead. DAZ used to require that all the items from promos should be listed, but at some point, PAs just stopped. I wish they hadn't.
Quite a few of them have began doing it again on their new releases.
Never would of found that. Many thanks, Detective. Everyone else feel free to jump in.
I really think all the promos should have DAZ3D store content only, given their new rules on linking to other stores...bit of a double standard if you ask me.
What you are asking is not always as easy as it may initially look from looking at a finished promo.
I cannot speak for all pa's, but I know I make several incarnations of what becomes my final promo shot, and each of them will have different looks and different props, which I may switch in and out depending on what I think of the final render.
Then when I have a number of different shots, I pick and choose from among them which ones I think will be best for the promos.
Then even when I am done and made my choices, DAZ's art department may ask for changes as well, which may involve an entirely different look.
So by the end there will have been so many variations with so many different sets, props, clothing and characters used in the shot that it becomes pretty well impossible to remember where each piece comes from.
This coupled with the fact that I just plain suck at remembering names, makes it hard to put such a list together. I am a visual person, so I tend to simply scour my library and think "oh this looks good" or "That looks good" and plop them in without giving thought to what set they are from.
So yeah....for some of us it is not all that easy to put a list together like that.

It's very difficult to identify items used in promos, as many artists modify them to suit their needs, or mix several items together to create something new. Unless there is some sort of unique, easily identified element such as a specific texture or model, it can take days to find a match. Longer if the item comes from a different store.
Thanks for taking the time to chime in. I appreciate everything that's been said so far and fully understand that content often gets modified beyond recognition. By no means am I demanding that every element used is credited; my hope was merely that this topic may act as a platform for those of us who wish to "reverse engineer" artwork in an attempt to better understand how something was made, or provide advice on how a similar solution could be achieved. The mystery's half the fun.
Sounds like a great idea, especially if the named products and/or links are right, not like the ones in this item: http://www.daz3d.com/geishas-for-aiko-5
I can find the •Urban Future 3 for instance but where on the promos is the •Pure Hair: Crazy for Genesis shown?
Or the •Anime School Girl Uniform?
I know which outfit is used ( Princess Asia by Esha )
but I also would like to know which hair is used.
Love, Jeanne :)
Speaking of Pure Hair: Crazy, I could have sworn it was a DAZ 3D/Valea product, but now the description says: Shop more by: DAZ 3D Bobbie25, Sarsa, Discobob, Lobo75, Lourdes, Morris
Great thread idea. :)
I think the hair is this one
http://www.daz3d.com/pure-hair-sweet
The 4th 5th and 6th image use the Anime school uniform
Not to derail things, but it would be helpful if there was an option in Daz Studio (and other applications) to list all assets used in a scene---then no one would have to remember what pose, texture, clothes, props they used. I tend to forget what I use and the scene list helps me somewhat, but it's hard to determine poses and textures......
Hmmm a full list that detailed everything would be huge depending on the scene... perhaps if it just listed all known and existing products used. (As items rather than a strenuous list of every used texture and morph etc)
Many occasions PA's have used custom dialed characters for instance and the list of morphs can very easily be a book in itself. Others often create original props purely for the promos to display what it is they're selling and they don't always release such models even as freebies.
Though I will say such a feature would certainly give the artist an idea of what items are in there, even if hard to see in the frame, long after the render was completed.
This is a neat thread btw :)
Anything is better than nothing. Especially if the look of a promo is very dependent on a piece of clothing. Wish I could brow beat the people at deviantart into doing this.
Dupe deleted. Having problems with the quick Post.

Thank you for answering Scorpio64dragon. :) I didn't notice the school uniform but indeed it's there and I'm happy I know which hair it is. I never thought of making the hair band transparent so I didn't bother to get it but now it's on my wishlist. :-)
Love, Jeanne :)
And Never Mind seems the thread has more posts than my Browser first displayed, been said before I now see.
How about this? If the PA knows the items used, and they are from the Daz Store, the PA can list those if they want to take the time to do so.
I would rather the PA spent their time making new stuff for me, if they're strapped for time. :)
Anyone know what hair was used for the balding troll on the 'Genesis Creature Bodies' cover image? http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-creature-creator-bodies
I think its Aprilysh's Mitch hair

On a related note, I think you will begin to see "Additional Products used in Promo Images" more often. DAZ has recently (like in the last two months or so) added a new box for this information to the form we submit with new products.
Here's a couple examples from the new release pages:
http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/chroma-key-green-screen-studio
http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/boris-hair-for-genesis-2-male-s
http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/ej-xana
http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/adorable-aiko-6
I know I'll be happy to fill in this box when I can remember what I used, LOL.
Hi O.o

That could be Valerie
http://www.daz3d.com/v5-elite-skin-texture-valerie
Close, but no cigar. The eye shadow's the giveaway.
I would like to add an entry. I asked this in another thread, hopefully I may have luck i this one.
Can anyone identify this UFO?
-MJ
There used to be a saucer of that general type at RDNA. Don't know if it was the same one.
Being Shutterstock it could be done entirely in Photoshop.
