I created everything in the vertex modeler. The tree I used the plant editor with weird settings to give a crooked trunk (you can't see because of the leaves) and strange leave settings too for that fan look.

Items Created: I created the temple structure and built the shaders for it. I built the vine "trunks" in the vertex modeler and added the branches which were custom made in the plant editor via surface replicator, I built the ferns and painted the texture with the 3D paint tool, I created the boulders in the vertex modeler and built the textures using Carrara's procedural shaders, I painted a height map in Photoshop for the main terrain and customized the Tapui shader preset (in the Terrain Shader directory), I built "bark" pieces and added them to the surface of a customized Palm tree preset to create a Date Palm type tree, I used the terrain generator to create some custom mounds on either side of the temple. Custom designed atmosphere and custom built volumetric clouds.
Credits: I used DAZ 3D's V4 with morphs++ to create the Tomb Raider style figure. I used a heavily modified clothing set available in the DAZ 3d store called, Shadow Dancer for V4. I used a modified Ponytail dynamic hair ponytail preset from the Objects Browser-->Hair-->Samples.
Postwork: adjustment layer created using a depth pass to desaturate the palm leaves on the left side of the image, a volume pass combined with the depth pass to create a slight DOF, clone tool to clean up collision artifacts with the replicated ferns and the replicated boulders (see my last WIP).

Items created:
Robot is mostly a spline object, but it has some vertex meshes and primitives grouped together. Per the challenge, the 3D Paint tool was used to paint the "03" on the robot's grill. Per the challenge, there are several custom plants. I also made some custom leaves by using a grid in the vertex modeler, editing to the desired shape, and applying color gradients with the "global" tab. The trowel is a vertex object. The star field is just an infinite plane with a custom shader (colorful gradient in color and glow channels, spots in the alpha channel). Similarly, the dome is a simple vertex sphere with the superstructure created by using the shader.

I created the rear end of the car in vertex editer, the row of trees along the back of the image are two different trees made with the editor, plus there is a set off the the left for reflections. Using the multi channel mixer I used a car paint shader with a rusty metal texture with just a blender value % for the final shader, and the silver shader with another rusty image with cellular blender. Terrain editor for the distant hills
Credits:
HowieFarkes's Country Lane grassy cover, hedge and weed, Maple Meadows flowers, Art Garbage- Tires, wood and cans, Tire Rim from automotive supplies and Lisa Indian Grass. And last for the ground texture I used from Bryce, David Brinnen and Horo's Ground Texture Tiles and Matching Terrain

Thanks to all who helped. Thanks especially to VARSEL for your ShareCG medals which I simply re-mapped. I never could have created those and they are a main feature. The scene was based on an iconic image recently in the news here combined with a 'cartoon' illustration I saw in a newspaper showing a vet in a cemetery saluting his buried comrades. Below link is the old vet I used for my model and tried to copy the details:
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/75339000/jpg/_75339370_glover.jpg
EDITED TO FOLLOW LIST FORMAT:
Items Created:
Terrain is a plane with hair-grass. Created a spline for the headstone and texture mapped the front with an actual Paratrooper's gravestone from the British section of Bayeux Cemetery. Re-mixed a granite shader from Carrara to get the right colour for the rest of the stone. Trees are all evergreens created in plant editor, and made his cane from a plant editor tree trunk that I evened out then modified to bend like an old fashioned cane. Background is a hedgerow meadows scene from the internet with WW2 British paratroopers blended in PS and projected onto a vertex flattened cube. Made the poppies in vertex and used a photo for a map from the net. Hair and beard done in Carrara Hair. Recreated his paratrooper regimental badge for the beret and tie. Made new texture maps for Varsel's medals to match real British medals given to WW2 servicemen.
Credits:
The old vet is based on Mec4D's Great Wizard for Genesis 2 wearing the M4 Business Suit & Beret both by Predatron from DAZ shop. Varsel's US Service medals from ShareCG. Images and ribbons from the net to convert to British medals.
Postwork:
The M4 Business Suit needed "tailoring"in postwork to get the cuffs to fit properly to Genesis2 figure. Adjusted brightness of tears and contrast of background image
It's not equal to the other entries in the field, but it pushed me to try new techniques and to learn lots from the experts here....so cheers for that! It's just fun to try and participate. I have to leave it now as is as I have work due...wish I could have done more with the garden rows of roses and lavender that are actually between the headstone rows in the real Bayeaux cemetery. So much art to create, so little time!

Title: Woodstock
I made several versions and it's my wife who selected this one…
Compared to the wip, I added two plants of cannabis to give some depth, and a halo to have a psychedelic effect with the light.
Home made objects (in Carrara only):
- The stage and its shaders, loudspeakers, some technical elements (feet of microphones, cables, pedal wah wah, spots…)
- The organ is an extremely modified Carrara content.
- Two plants of cannabis (thanks to the weblinks of Philemo: http://www.3dmd.net/gallery/index-22.html
Credits:
- The Jimi's guitar is from Herminio (ShareCG)
- The two other guitars and the battery plus a microphone are objects of the Carrara library.
- M3, M4 and Diego for the musicians with Carrara hairs (thank you EP!).
For clothing, sorry but I don't classify them in files with the name of the manufacturer, thus I don't know…
- The public: Predatron Loretta and Lorenzo Lo-Rez.

Everyone is unanimous to say that the musicians of my other entry are not emphasized and I am of agreement, therefore here is one which I appreciate more particularly…
My objects:
- Plant of cannabis: Carrara tree trunk and leaves thanks to the weblinks of Philemo: http://www.3dmd.net/gallery/index-22.html
- The hair (with the assistance of EP)
- The stringcourse in the hair (vertex)
- The collar “Peace and love” (spline)
- The smoke is a simple plan with an image which I carried out in Combustion for the shader.
Credits:
- The guitar: from Herminio (ShareCG), except the cable and the strap which are home made.
- DAZ M4
- Clothes (?) textured by me.

For the creation of the differente items I have used ArchiTool, for the buildings, The Vertex modeller, And Anything Goos for shading.
The ISS IV is created in the plant editor, and converted into a vertex object, for some minor adjustments.
The forground dome is all adjustet plants, and something recycled from a previous contest.
In the background dome I have used trees from http://www.daz3d.com/ecomantics-efficient-ecosystems by DimensionTheory.
Predatrons Lorenzo and Loretta has also been used, and his LoRez Dog as well.

Items created:
The jet cylinders, the back rest and strap. I painted them both in Carrara's paint tool. The rest of his gear I smashed up from various steam punk objects I purchased. I kitbashed the vertex model of Urban Sprawl and added some bill boards with some of my earlier renders.
Credits:
I used some M3 clothes (daedaulus Sky Mercenary) on K4, fitting them in xdresser then taking them into Poser to clean up the fall off zones etc.
Also used daz's working class clothes for M4 via the same method.
Buildings are Stonemason's excellent Urban Sprawl. Vines from his enchanted forest. And his Jungle Ruins.
Cars were various Daz vehicles.
The steam punk vehicles I mashed up for the jet pack were Iron Wasp and quite a few bits and pieces I found in carrara's objects folder - eg phone cables, there was another....?
K4 morph by Mech4d Homo Erectus.
I made big use of Fenrick's plugins - especially duplicate tree, shader doctor, and select next or previous in the instances tree.
Postwork:
I rendered out several passes including shadows, coverage, object index, depth and used those to isolate different parts of the image.
For flames, fogs, smoke I used a few of Ron Deviney's wonderfullent brushes,
Fixed up the poke through with clone tool in PS.
Copied my protagonist using object index to isolate him then motion blurred that to make him look like he was moving slighly,
Reverse selected that and gaussian blurred the background,
For subtle motion blur on the motors I did radial blur copied it wtice and set one layer to multiply, the other to screen
Fine tuned the image tonal range and detail contrast in Oloneo HDR software (also the image saturation) , took the result in painter x3 and auto cloned it to take the cg edge of the whole, then back in photoshop changed the opacity of that layer till it was a subtle, copied the whole then tweaked the levels , yadadayada :)
I then rendered some of emperor kens excellent birds and overlayed them on the whole and blurred them out with motion blur. I chucked a few butterflies in as well but they got blown away in the slip stream...
Thanks so much Philemo, you did a grande job on running this show. And of course to Daz and our sponsorr Howie Farkes :) The quality of the renders just keep getting better and betterererer!
:)
Hi to all.
Submission is now closed.
Now is voting time. I know it's not that easy as all submissions do have something worth voting for.
Remember, you can vote for 3 entries, plus 2 nominations for honourable mention. You can vote twice for the same artist, as long it's for 2 different entries.
I wish you a good voting time ;-)
Voting will end next Monday 9pm MT.

I agree with you! So many nice renders. I'll have to think this over for a couple days. I also hope others come in and take a look, even if they didn't enter! I know when I hosted, I tried not to spam, but I really promoted the thread in the Commons, at the Carrara Cafe and Renderosity.

Title:59 Caddy
To everyone else,
I love seeing your wonderful WIPs and final renders.
Please keep going for it! Everyone here is always on the brink of stealing the vote from another... so keep up the practice... keep trying and submitting... keep building these awesome Carrara scenes! Although we have to come up with a final vote, it can be pretty hard to do, since there's some amazing work going on here!
Best of luck to everyone, and Thanks to Howie Farkes and DAZ 3D for sponsoring, and thanks for the excellent hosting by Philemo!
Philemo, I really tried to make the deadline, but fell short. Really sorry, my friend!
I agree with you. I was waiting to have some vote already cast before doing it (as a guideline for new comers).
Post in the commons
Post in Rendo
So many great choices and a lot of neat work. I'd urge everyone voting to check out the WIPs if they haven't.
When under construction, these contest entries are just as fascinating to me! I must confess to not posting many myself... but I really admire the skill used and following the details of designing a scene is a great learning tool as well. It was hard to choose this time... really hard!

My votes:
#2 by evilproducer: The City of Zed: Completing Her Father’s Quest.
That render is simply breathtaking. One of the best contextual uses of atmospheric effects I've seen in 3D. I can really feel the longing for the past glory in this image. And excellently executed, too.
#11 by headwax: “The Adventures of Monkey Boy.”
There is so much story and back-story in this single 2D frame that I want to read it like a book. Brilliant!
#8 by Stezza: We don’t need a Delorean.
That image is so much fun, and the details are all well-fitted.
Honourable Mentions:
# 6 by DUDU: Woodstock
That image definitely gets its point across :) The eye-hurting colors are for once the most fitting choice for this story, and I just love how it all comes together to portray the mood and internalized perception. I think it's the best expression of that very internal, embellished through somewhat distorted memories, idealistic feeling of nostalgia in this mix of entries.
#4 by kashyyyk: 59 Caddy
Love the modeling and texturing here. The lighting is great, and the concept is excellently portrayed and executed. Great image.
