Order my content

Hello everyone,
I did not find the exact discription of my problem. A few are near but not reach mine.

So, here it goes: My content work well, but I have so much content not only from the marketplace but from other free sources (maybe over 5000 pices). I lost the detailed view of my content. The old content management service worked in the older version of Daz very well. With every new version of Daz my created files and product links are gone. Now I have to start the CMS seperatly before I use Daz. Than after a reboot of the PC if I use the CMS and Daz my creation is gone and I would have to do the work again.

I do not want to change the saving places. I would like to use a linking system of the content. Is there an "in Daz Solution"? or is there a exterenal programm that work in Daz by realtime?

If there a solution; how does it work?

Thank you for your help

Sounds like you may have a program turning off the CMS or that you just need to Re-Import your Metadata. That is done this way in DAZ Studio..

It work for round about the half of my Daz content. I can not creat new folders, categorice any items neither daz nor any other product.
Is there a way to start the cms by the start of Daz Studio?
    Thank you for your help

You do understand the Database will never pull up all content do you not? Only Smart Content will ever populate the Smart content Tab, all other content will only be usable from the Content Library Tab or the Products View in the Content Library Tab. But you should be able to use Categories and the PosterSQL is supposed to auto start when DAZ Studio does. It still sounds like you have a software issue that is blocking the Database Program from running. Which Anti Virus software do you run?

It sounds like your database is corrupt. Export User Data if you've categorized content yourself. You may want to try the PostgreSQL CMS -- I've found it to be much faster and more reliable. You need to use DIM to install it. There's a link in my sig to the PostgreSQL CMS FAQ.

If you don't want to use DIM, after Exporting User Data you'll need to close DS, shut down the CMS, and delete the databases. Then restart CMS and DS and re-import metadata.

  • Thank you for your help. The categoration and tagging works well. But now I have a nother problem. My computer broke down. I have my content on a external hard drive sorted and tagged. I try to use the content on another PC. The content was there but the tags and the categories were gone. Is there a way to save them with the content?

Another idea; years ago I saved my content in order of categories. Nearly all content was so parted the it did not work. Maybe it could work now. Is it possible to save my content in my order so the in DAZ funtions are not necessary?

    Thank you for your help

If you're able to run DS on the old computer, Content DB Maintenance > Export User Data, that saves your tags and custom categories to User_x.dsx in Runtime/Support (where x starts at 1) so that it can be re-imported.

  • Try it but it does not work at first. After change the DB place to the extern hard drive it work partly.

The categories and the links of the contents are there but you can not load the content on another computer. A mesage says there are no content to load. The content is on the extern too. The tags which I use for searchs are gone in the content in the category are there.

What is wrong or what mistake did I?

Does DS see the content in Content Library > DAZ Studio Formats/Poser Formats?

  • Yes the normal content work normal. I only have problems with the categories and tags.

If you reset the database and then Re-Import Metadata, do you still get non-functional icons?  What OS and how is the external drive identified?

  • Maybe I should tell the full story of my porblem:

I have a new computer (2) and I want my DAZ Content and the order at it. I have two other computer. One desktop pc it is newer but have technical problem (1). That is way I have a new one. At this computer (1) I try to order my content new but the problems stop me from more deeper tests. My other computer is an old netbook (net). This was my main pc for years. This computer (net) have not a big hard drive so I saved all my DAZ content on a external hard drive. The hard drive is identified on all three as an external hard drive but with different letters. When I import the saved content to DAZ the content worked on every computer the same way. After a few tests of how to save the content database on the hard drive I found the active pane "edit preference". In this tab I change the path to the hard drive.

On the new computer (2) the content on the hard drive is working with pics and all functions. But this content do not have the tags or the datebase places which I added to them. After changeing the "edit prefereces" to the hard drive database path the categories and the content are there but they are not working. For information, the categoriesed content is only from the hard drive and no other place. Everytime I try to load a orphan content from the categories I got the mesage "this content does not exist.". But the content is on the hard drive and work in DAZ but not in the categories.

At the new computer (2) I categories a few contents for testing. I used the reset datebase and the import metadate. My categories was gone. I export my user datas but I do not see a dialogbox where I can select the path to save the user datas.

My problem is, I want my content on an external hard drive work on every computer with the categories and tags.

What do I wrong? How can I fix this?

    Thank you for your help.

Just to confirm, this is using DS4.8, not the beta, and this is on Windows?

When you export user data the files are placed in Runtime:Support in your first DAZ Studio Format content folder.  This data only has relative paths, so if a different computer assigns a different drive letter to the external, as long as you set your content directories in DS first, rer-importing metadata will pick up the new base path.

If there's bad data in the database, reset the database, then re-import metadata.

  • Sorry forgot to write it. Yes it is Windows 7 and it is the latest DS version 4.8 no test version no beta.

Nothing I do work. I think I need a full tutorial how to creat a categorie folder which I can export and import on every computer.

    Have anybody such a tutorial?

Check out the categories listing in this thread

  • Could it be possible that I have problems because I switch between a Win/DAZ64 and a Win/DAZ32?
