Croft Apartment - File Problem???

Hi DAZ, I notice that the file size for "Chroft Apartment Open Plan Living Ps" is really small compared to the Ds equivalent file. This seems inconsistent when compared to the other Chroft Apartment files (see attached screen print) which are almost equal in size for both Ds & Ps versions.

Just want to know if this is correct or an error in the file loading to my account?
If it's an error then please reload the correct file to my account. Thank you.

That's because the poser file is just a DSON Poser Companion file. The Chroft Apartment items are all .duf files, so you can only use them in Poser with DSON.

Wait. The page summary says they include .cr2 and .mc6 files, so maybe there's a mistake. You can always download the file manually and poke around in the zip file to see what's in there...

The zip file contains empty manifest files. We will need to submit a support ticket.

This has been reported to DAZ.

It's good that you've reported it, but it's pretty damn unimpressive when I spend $25 on something and I can't get the item I paid for because of some slack quality control!

This kind of thing just isn't good enough. It's not the first time and I'm very sure that it will not be the last. Unfortunately, just as long as those $$$ keep on rolling in it seems that nobody at DAZ is losing any sleep over customer perceptions.

I believe it's still wrong. In the Character folder there is a thumbnail "FULL Chroft Apartment.png" but there is no corresponding .CR2 - I haven't checked all the other folders; this was the first one I looked at.

Honestly, whoever did the QA on this needs a really good hard ass-kicking ... on their way out of the door!

Have you cleared your cache and refreshed the page before trying to download again. Don't forget a failed download will stay in your browser cache and stop the new download from working properly

I don't think that's relevant in this case. This is a totally different ZIP file (372 MB vs the 489 bytes of the original "placeholder" file), and it isn't corrupted (passes checksum test on opening). Even the file list from the product's readme page (which I assume is generated from the ZIP) confirms that the file isn't there:

    /Runtime/Libraries/Character/ApartmentInterior/ApartmentInterior.cr2
    /Runtime/Libraries/Character/ApartmentInterior/ApartmentInterior.png
    /Runtime/Libraries/Character/ApartmentInterior/FULL Chroft Apartment.png

So the question is: IS there a FULL Chroft Apartment.cr2 or is that .png just there for decoration?

If the latter, then why has it got such a stupid name when it so obviously refers to a CR2 that loads everything into the scene in one go!

You could ask the PAs, in the commercial thread here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/42850/

Checking in DIM to-night I saw an up-date for the Croft Appt Open plan Living ps" along with todays purchases.
Downloaded without problem but then tried (many times) to install this, .. it gets to 80% mark, .. then fails!

I went to the trouble of 'un-installing the files from my installed files/DIM, in the hope that this would correct the problem .... to no avail!
Any suggestions?.. incidentally I bought the whole bundle and no difficulty d/loading- installing in the first place, (though I havent tried playing with it yet (obviously)
And yes, I too contacted the PA, .. apologizes, but "has no control over DIM"

The zip file has a CRC error on the file FW_Ap_DoorsAndFrames.jpg. Since the zip is bad, its DIM probably uses that as source. That would cause the failure. Time to report another error. This is just one screw up after another.

Well, .. I think it's a bit like its name, .. dim! ... as it can't report any kind of reason for failure, or indeed if it has installed any of the files, .. it just FAILS! ..
Using Stuffit, the files that are not damaged, are unzipped and placed correctly into the 'Content' folder.

I tried downloading the files manually and un-zipping via stuffit. Managed to un-zipp most of the file, then stuffit reports "Stuffit Compression Message: Format Error!"

In the absence of some sort of action and/or answer from DAZ I'll give it another day or so before I return the faulty item and request a refund. :blank:

I was lucky, I downloaded the file prior to this one, the one which has the extra unnecessary .png, and I saw this post before I allowed DIM to update.

Whether or not the PA has control over DIM, the issue here continues to be one of Quality Control.

Also, dare I say it, this probably constitutes a bug in DIM. It should test the ZIP checksum BEFORE starting the install (but after downloading) so that you know immediately if you have a problem and your runtime is not altered in any way.
