hi everybody!!! it's rather crazy: I have two copmuters... I'set up 4 scènes, on one...then, I transfer via a usb key, the scènes on the other... exactly the same set up, just the name to "save as"... but the renders are all too dark, much darker than on the first computer... I've tried without batch, the scene directle opened, and same result: too dark... any explanation??? thank you!

It sounds like monitor calibration to me.
You would need to do calibration tests on both monitors to see how they compare.
Send the rendered images to the other machine so see if it is still too dark?
no, Jimmy! I've opened the two pictures on the same screen... two computers, but a singl screen!
HI Celmar :)
can you post both images here as a test ?
I'd agree with Jimmy, it's monitor of graphics card related,. but both on the same screen and one is darker is really strange.
If the scene and all it's lighting / textures/ rendering settings are the same on both machines, then the image should be the same.
Graphics card difference?? Or are you viewing the renders in Photoshop or an image programme that's not exactly the same on each machine?
ETA: I have PS in my CS3 suite and also PS CS6 standalone on the same computer and same screen. Images do NOT look the same from one version of PS to the other. If not graphics card related, it's got to be an image programme viewing issue I'd think?
:) Silene
is very odd as I have rerendered saved Carrara 7 scenes I did on my old vista laptop on my Win7 64bit desktop with C8.1 and they were identical
in fact redone videos in full 1920x1080HD of my early smaller ones!!
exactly same lighting etc but much more detailed obviously and bigger.
I agree with Silene. I think it is how different graphics programs are handling the gamma correction. I have an ancient Photoshop 7 and a less ancient Photoshop CS 2, and the CS2 appears far more dark than the image displayed by Carrara during rendering and by Photoshop 7. In fact the images opened in P7 looks more like the Carrara image during rendering.
thank you for your help! unfortunely, I can't post pictures, as it is an advertisement which is "fresh pressed", not yet used by the client... It's really curious, as it is the first time it occurs... it is like the global illumination isn't used on the second computer... In fact, I've used the registerd file I had on the usb key to re open it on the first computer (which I use to build the scene), and no problem..
ok, so the only problem I see, without any explanation , is:
- the computer I use to render, wich is very powerful, (12 cores), has recently a hard disk, with Windows 8, cloned from the computer I use to work on... it's recent, but I have already on it issues with zbrush, some plug ins have been lost... Maybe there is problem with carrara, too... maybe that "clone" bisness isn't so perfect I was expected (nothing to re install!!!).
I'm going to re install carrara 8 on the rendering computer, then try again that damned file, and tell you if things remain stranges again, or come back to the honest, initial render!!!
Good luck to you!
It may be good to take one of Carrara's included GI scenes and do a test render of that to see if you have the same problem. Then you could post screen shots of that scene with no worries about violating your contract.
check to see if profiles are the same the default for fotoshop was rgb now its srgb much darker
