Are there any sites that have yokai critters such as kappa, bakeneko/nekomata, tengu, etc.
I have turtle dude for Genesis but that doesn't completely hit the mark for a kappa.
Anyone know of sites to look at for such?
In advance, thanks.

Sixus - check his department on Rendo. He has lots of those Asian creatures.
Thanks:-P

My pleasure! I think there is a whole series called "The Enchanted Forest" with creatures from Asian folklore, but I own none of his paid sets (got some freebies, but no time to install them - what a shame!) and I'm not sure. I am certain there is a figure called Kodama.

That dragon is cute! Even cuter than Eastern Dragon, which I have.

I looked at it but sadly no Kappa (main item wanted). "sigh" the hunt continues.
You'll have to do some re-texturing, but honestly I think you can get pretty far with Joequick's Duckie for Genesis http://www.daz3d.com/duckie-for-genesis
It doesn't require anything except the base Genesis (the first one, not the G2 line).

Oops, noticed those things are turtles.
He also has Mr Turtle, which only needs Genesis as well http://www.daz3d.com/mr-turtle-and-the-conspicuous-interloper
(I'm assuming that 2nd shot is your initial attempt, so you already have M4 Monk Hair?)
Nope on the second image. That I found online search topic (Google images) for "Kappa". A true kappa morph would include the head depression filled with water. And not to be nitpicky but according to Japanese folklore, kappas resemble humanoid turtles but are classified as water imps.
The head depression seems like the sort of thing that could be easily done with a dformer.
Hey Imposer12,
There is a toon-style Kappa here:

Poserclub Japan had a really great tengu outfit for Michael 3, but I don't know if they will ever come back after being hacked.

I've never heard of them before. I just saw the images, googled for more, and offered suggestions.
Whether or not they're useful is up to you.

Thank you for the suggestions, they were greatly appreciated.

It's up again ...
For a nekomata you could use one of the various cat morphs that are out that will work. I've seen some very good Aiko 3 cat girl images that come to mind.
For the bakeneko your going to have to modify the figure or or do multiple rendering and post work to get the split tail.
For the kappa try also looking for Kawataro and see if that helps.
The Kappa wasn't originally called by the name Kappa.
The Wakan sansazue, a 105 encyclopedia of Japanese & Chinese illustrations, which began publication around 1713, has the first know illustration of one calls it by the name Kawataro and gives a description of one.
It also had some information on it to accompany the illustration.
The name Kappa did not appear til latter in Toriyama Sekien's Gazu hyakkiyagyo which was published in 1776.
Sekien works were illustrated parodies of the documented forum used in various encyclopedias.
He often changed things about the mythological creatures in his works and invented creatures for his works. He gives no indication on where the name Kappa comes from, so it is unknown if he created that name or if was a local name in some part of Japan for the Kawataro.
I found this on a Japanese site the artist did an awesome kappa using David 3 and a great ao-andon using V3 RR.

Contact Sixus1 Media. Last time I exchanged site mail, they were working on more figures for the project. Send them the pics. They may not be familiar with it but might do it once they see it.
