Vector Style 2.0 will not load - have it in the proper directory - Is it a Carrara 8 PRo issue?

I have Carrara 8 Pro and everything runs and loads and it integrates with D|S but I cannot get VectorStyle to Load. I want to learn this program as I am the proud owner but it does not do so. Can someone tell me how to start it. Is it a standalone or something.. I honetly thought it was a plugin.. Can someone please let me know what to do to reinstall or if there are tutorials on this software.

    I've found this from JayNola's Carrara Plugins FAQ:

    Q: Where is the Documentation for this plugin?

    A: You can find HTML documentation files after you install the plugin in the folder VectorStyleDocs located in the Carrara program (application) folder. The Documentation can’t be accessed via Help Menu in Carrara contrary to what the Read Me for the plugin states.


    Q: Does it come with any examples files?

    A: Yes, it comes with several Carrara scene files and swf (Shock Wave Flash) files of the scenes exported in that format they can be found in the Examples folder located in the VectorStyleDocs folder that you can find in the Carrara program (application) folder after you install the plugin.


    Q: Do any additional tutorials and information exist on using Vector Style 2? The Documentation is very bare bones and I head that some book had some stuff on using it.

    A: The book The Carrara 5 Pro Handbook, by Mike de la Flour, dedicates an entire chapter to Vector Style 2.


    Q: Are Vector Style 2 swf files and a native Flash swf file the same?

    A: No, Vector Style 2 swf files are not as highly optimized and not as compact as native Flash swf files. It is recommended to keep export of Vector Style 2 files at 12 frames per second and export options simple if you plan to work with them in Flash after export.

    Did you have Vector Style before purchasing Carrara 8 Pro and it worked for you?
    If so, perhaps there is an updated version added to your Product Library of downloads in your DAZ account(?).

    Sorry I cannot be more help, as I don't have the plugin. Hmmm... looks amazing though!

    I discovered I didn't have it installed... I was able to go through the install process *I GOT AN ERROR* at the end of the install but launched Carrara anyway.

    The plugin appears to be installed, shows under EXPORT and under EDIT --> VECTORSTYLE PREVIEW...

    I had to hunt for my serial number. My account has two. The one that worked is the much longer serial....

    I am on OS X 64bit

    How did you finally get it installed, by running the installer again?

    No, I just went ahead and launched Carrara to see if it was there, and it was. I don't know what caused the error and the installer had no useful info, but since the error was at the end of the process I assume it is just unable to confirm it's own installation (and who knows what DAZ put in that installer to test which and what...). Since I'm on OS X and Apple is getting increasingly defensive about installed programs, I was prompted a few times to enter my admin password to allow changes to the Carrara's folders.

    The OP is not specific about which part of the process is not working, and seems confused about where Vectorstyle should appear.... I remember being confused that Vectorstyle is an EXPORTER, not a renderer. If the OP is looking for it under render settings nothing is there.

    Yes, that's why I thought of putting up Jay's FAQ info... thought it might help ;)
