No dynamic clothes with DUF (SOLVED)

I used to be able to import dynamic clothes with the now obsolete DAE format. But now, as soon as I want to import Optitex dynamic clothes from Daz and make a NLA clip in Carrara, the cloth changes places and it's impossible to put it back on the character. The DUF format doesn't import all the character's morphs either. Even if it wasn't for that, it is impossible to use Mimic if you have dynamic clothes in the scenes. Mimic doesn't work then, for some reason. I have tried every work around. No luck.

Please, Daz, if you're listening, make something right.

Eureka! I found a way! Simply render the figure with the dynamic clothes in Daz Studio with an alpha channel. Then surimpose it in Premiere to a background rendered in Carrara. The best of both worlds. Now I can also use the awesome skin overlay scripts and the Genesis 2 high resolution figures which don't work in Carrara.

    HI Argus :)

Did you Freeze the dynamic simulation before you saved the DS scene ?

I bet that is the issue, the same happens when sending DAZ Studio scenes to LuxRender without first freezing the dynamic clothing. I usually forget when I haven't worked with a dynamic item in awhile.

Of course. Of course. I'm used to importing dynamic clothes into Carrara. The problem is not there at all. Just try importing a DUF file from Daz with a figure wearing dynamic clothes and try to make a NLA clip out of it. Tell me your results.

Also, even if you're not making an NLA clip, just try to have the character with dynamic cloth speak using Mimic. Tell me your results.

I bet that is the issue, .

Be glad you didn't lay any money on the table. You would have lost it.

Hmm... from your explanation I take it the clothing came in OK until you decided to animate it? Then why would a frozen dynamic cloth animate?

I am just trying to understand your process at this point, because the way I know how DS dynamics work is that when it is frozen that's it you can't do anything else to it.

Unless Carrara is messing with the clothing even when you try to change or add anything in the scene?

I don't understand. The cloth is already animated in Daz Studio and it comes in animated in Carrara. Frozen means that every frame of the animation is baked in. It doesn't means the animation is still. It is still animated. The problem jumped at me when I tried to make an NLA clip out of the animation. Then the clothing was out sync with the character.

Oh, now I understand what you are doing. The animation is already done in DAZ Studio and Carrara is crapping it during the import (or not keeping it sync when you try to create the NLA).
