Possible discussions of home page lighting and rendering

I notice that you have just changed the figures on the home page. The present ones are great, and the last set were fantastic! Would there be any chance that Daz could choose a couple of these figures (my vote would be for the dragon head and a couple of the first set girls), and go through how they were lit, and also what render settings were used to create these beautiful images? I would love this a lot!

While I think that is a great idea, the images weren't rendered in house. These are all user created images that we pulled from the gallery. Each image on the home page has the artist listed in the bottom right hand corner.

I'm not sure how many of our gallery artists are active here in the forums. I know of at least one (szark) who had an image featured. He may be willing to share insights on his image.

You can search the artists in the gallery and comment on their image. It may be worth asking them to take a minute in the forums to discuss their lighting and rendering techniques.

I think the OP is on to something.
If Daz3d were to conduct a web interview with an artist like once a month on "how it was done" it would defiantly be something I'd be interesting in reading. You could include links to the tools they used if they were from your store.

Hello - I had looked up the dragon and the blond woman looking at you with her hands up a little - according to comments on the Gallery images both were done using Octane render. The robots was my image and it was done in Poser using lights from Colm's IDL Studio. I absolutely loved the lighting and colors on the dragon and that girl so had researched them!

I, for one, ALWAYS appreciate "Render Notes" with images. I understand how that can detract in the banner but in the Gallery it is always appreciated.

Gogger, thanks for speaking up! I tried to locate your original image but couldn't find it. You answered my questions. That robot render looked like it was from a movie!

DAZ_jared are you referring to this one that used to be on the home page http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/26929/ ?

    It was rendered in Vue.

If this is the one referred to, the Dragon Pic was done by Laticis http://laticis.deviantart.com/art/Nake-of-the-Forrest-457100944 . ;) And was indeed rendered in Octane via the Daz Studio to Octane Plug-in.

    Thanks Kevin.

FYI: Here's the original image from my DAZ Gallery.

Lyssophere gives a little detail, not much, but a little here on one of the images.

my pleasure. You can see Laticis, Ady's (ADRIANO DI PIERRO) interview in issue 40 of http://3dartdirect.com/ where he shares some of his workflow.
