Victoria 6 Pro Pack - needs G2F head and body morphs?

edited December 1969 in The Commons

Hi
I'm considering the Victoria 6 Pro Pack, but notice that it does not include the G2F head and body morphs yet includes ''Nyssa'' which (who?) apparently requires both G2f head and body morphs and 'Norma' who apparently requires the G2f body morphs.
Does that mean that to get full use of the Victoria 6 Pro Pack it is also necessary to buy the G2f head and body morphs? There is no mention of this under 'requirements, and, well...........

regards
Pete

    The store page does say

    Notes

Please install the provided Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials
In order to have the full functionality of this product, you will want to purchase the Genesis 2 Female Head and Body Morphs.

The Morph packs are for G2F, not just for V6. So you can use them without having V6 or any other G2F Character.

By selling them separately it means that should you then buy other G2F characters you already have the morph packs.

Many thanks. Believe it or not I didn't actually read the bit underneath about 'full functionality' as I was expecting to see missing bits for functionality as 'required packages' or whatever. Ah well, I'm getting old.
You know, it would have helped if there had been some hint as to what was needed to get 'full functionality.' I checked through the 'characters' but not the rest, so don't know if the G2f head and body morphs would do it or if there is something else needed. Actually, I'm pretty sure I came across an add-on to give the toes full movement at $11.99, but......
I need to think about it, but will probably give it a miss even at 30% off.

Thanks for your quick response - much appreciated.

The two characters you mention are from Silver, and her stuff generally does require the body morphs. Typically her head morph is modeled against a single base shape (so V6 in this case), while the body is dialspun using the body morphs. Because this uses Genesis morphing technology, if you don't have the morphs, the characters will still work, they just won't look the same as you see in the promos because the missing morphs get ignored when you apply the character preset.

That said, the head and body morphs bundle is probably the single most important add-on for G2F you'll ever buy, so it's worth getting it. And yes, there was a huge discussion about "why wasn't it included?" back when the V6 pro pack came out...

For various reasons (health problems, unfortunately) I missed all the original discussions on V6 (and a lot of what's been happening for a year or more in the 3D world) and didn't find much in the search I did before posting the question - but I was in a bit of a hurry so probably didn't look far back enough. There are usually good reasons for these things and I appreciate your explaining them. Actually, I really just want to get a model to use for sketching / painting and only occasional 3D work so a lot of the niceties of the 3D world tend to pass me by.
The current Genesis is rather good in many ways and quite an improvement on the gen4 stuff I used to use, but I find the head shape and hair a bit annoying. Having tried out V6 base I thought it would be a good idea to get the full thing......

This is how many people here felt at first when G2F & V6 first hit the scene. Though, I thought that it was because they were going to eventually push out a Pro Suite tier bundle for her like they did with V5, which included the Evolutionary Morphs. But I guess things are different this time, like that always are with every generation...

*Smiles fondly at the memory of the M5 version with the dresses from the Genesis Bundle*

Well, the morphs are not a bad investment, if you want to change the look of V6, or any other character, for the matter. You even can create your very own character with it. :-)
Personally, I'd recommend buying the morphs over the Pro package, unless you have specific items in the Pro pack you want, and want the genitals as well.
(Just realized that, in case you bought Aeon Soul's new outfit today, you get a 50% discount on the morphs because they are DAZ, http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-female-morphs-bundle )

When we list that the head morphs are required this is usually only because we modify the pupil dilate size to be smaller and sometimes add some lash length and styling options. None of our G2 characters actually 'require' the morph pack to work its just for that small tweaking. The bodies do usually require the morph set although we are starting to just make custom bodies now that I got that bit figured out :D Sorry about that we should have put a note on the page stating what the G2F Morph sets were used for. But for any of my sets that are included in the Daz bundles the heads are completely custom just some pupil or lash modifications which are really not necessary but more for aesthetic purposes.

it seems that DAZ are using a different model for how they market this, but because it is fundamentally different from V4 it does make sense, I guess.

Yes, I can see how the morphs would be a good investment, but there are other areas which are more interesting to me. I'm currently using the face and body morphs by 'DieTrying.' For the body they may well be enough for my needs, but they don't do enough for the head which is to me the most annoying bit, The other bit that really annoys is the hair, and the pro pack contains some.
Also, I don't find posing the - er- model easy, so a few extra poses would be nice as start points as would some clothes that can be loaded straight in without fiddling around in what seems a rather complex file structure, I think I'm talking myself into buying the thing, but unfortunately I do see it all as a bit of way of getting people to spend more and more........that's how companies survive I guess, but I was a bit surprised to see appears to be an add-on to let the model wriggle her toes, poor thing.

    Silver

thank-you for the information, that helps a lot.

Tbh, though, I see nothing wrong with using the morphs - makes sense, really. It's just me not wanting to spend money!
