Animating a lid or door opening with M4 holding the handle (can I use IK on M4?)

I have one of M4's hands holding a handle on a lid. What I want to do is to have M4 animate/move through IK when the lid is opened. I have experimented with parenting M4s hand to the handle, but when I grab his hand in DAZ and move it around using the Translate Tool, the lid detaches, and does not hinge? It seems tricky!

Another analogy would be parenting a tennis racket to M4s hand then moving the racket with M4s hand following kind of like the opposite of what is normally required.

Any help would appreciated please :-)
